JustRite Challenge- Get Krafty birthday card

Hello Crafteteers!

Popping in to share a birthday card I made for the current JustRite challenge- Get Krafty!  It has been a while since I participated in a JustRite challenge- I think the last one was the CAS challenge.  It has been a busy spring so far and I was happy to find the time to make this quick Kraft card.  (It is great to have another birthday card for the stash!  Funny, I make a lot of cards but always seem to be short a card when I need it.)

The card uses JustRite's "Have a Fabulous Birthday" sentiment from their Grateful Heart Vintage Labels Two set.  The dies are as follows from the bottom up: Kraft tent fold card stock cut from the largest Spellbinders Matting Basics die, The Romantic Garden paper (Meg's Garden line) die cut from the next Matting Basics size down, Ivory card stock from A2 Tranquil Moments, Kraft card stock from A2 Tranquil Moments, and finally ivory card stock from Gold Labels Four.

Has anyone picked up any of the new release Spellbinders?  Do you have a favorite?  I am trying figure out which one of the new Spellbinders dies I like most but that is difficult because the dies I have purchased are fabulous.  I have been playing with them every day.  Your should see my poor craft room...there are paper bits every where.  When I was about to take photos of this card, my husband walked into my craft room and saw the floor and die cuts strewn about the room.  His eyes were huge.  He was about to say something when I put my hand up and said "Just back out of the room."  He wisely did that very thing.  LOL

Have a good evening all!  Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

CAS Thank You card

Hello Again!

This is my second post today for Quietfire Creations.  I usually do not make a lot of CAS cards...but I do try!  I just get so distracted by all the dies in my die bin that I can't resist the urge to use one!  However, this one was too easy to make, it used dies (Matting Basics A and B by Spellbinders) and it came together quickly.

The card was made using Quietfire's Thank you set and Quietfire's new Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme set.  The Quietfire Creations blog entry has all of the details for the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a great day!

It has been a week since my last post but I have been busy making cards for my mom.  They will be part of her Mother's Day gift and I hope she likes them!  I decided to share the cards as my post today on Quietfire Creations.

I won't go into too much detail here but I will point out the beautiful stamp used on the front: Quietfire's Happy Family Days.  I have not had the stamp set for too long but I have used it every week since I received it.  Talk about a "go-to" set!

Feel free to hop on over to the Quietfire Creations blog for all of the card details.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Easy to mail (yay!) Merry Christmas card

Merry Christmas!

Yes, this is my second holiday card post this month.  My tulips are in the yard working their way up out of the recently frozen earth and I am making Christmas cards.  Goodness.  But, I am sticking with that New Years resolution and getting Christmas cards done throughout the year.  Two this month...I am ahead of schedule!

I am sending a box of cards home to my mom and in doing so have realized that a lot of my cards are not mail friendly- cards with big bows or big flowers or big bows with big flowers in the middle.  (Standard envelopes need not apply for my cards.)  So, I challenged myself to make an easy to mail card and I am happy with the results...although I really do think it could use a big bow on it.
The card base is Recollections navy blue speckled card stock from Michaels.  Ivory card stock was dry embossed using Anna Griffin's embossing folder Poppy (I just love that folder!!).  Cheery Lynn's doily die, Lilith, die cut the blue card stock.  Spellbinders Splendid Circles die cut ivory paper and JustRite's Christmas Vintage Labels One stamp was applied as shown.  Two small sheer ribbons were the final touch.

The card came together quite quickly and will be a mass produced card!  Hope you like it, Mom.  You will be getting a stack before November!  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful Easter Weekend.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

From Paris with Love

Happy Sunday All!

Just wanted to share a shabby card I made for the current challenges at the Kraft Journal (Paris or France) and at Craft Hoarders (use that non-used stamp).

Paris definitely holds a special place in my heart: it was on the Eiffel Tower that my husband proposed.  I said "Yes" in case you are wondering.  :)  It was an amazing time.  We spent 10 incredible days in Paris.  Every morning we would wake up early, grab a baguette from the local baker, hop on the metro and see as much of the city until late in the evening.  Three days were spent at the Louvre alone, one day at the Rodin museum and Impressionist museum, and countless hours just exploring.  It was beautiful, surreal, awe-inspiring...absolutely perfect.  It is impossible to think about any of that trip and not smile.

Sorry!  I digressed...on to the card...
Obviously I have happy thoughts about Paris so I wanted to go with happy colors on the card and to also include a heart.  A nicety about the card: excluding one of the papers, all of the paper used was from my scrap bin.  (I need to dive into that bin more often!)  The card base was made from Kraft card stock.  The ivory heart was die cut using Spellbinders Lace Hearts die set and the Eiffel Tower is Kraft card stock die cut using the Die-namics Eiffel Tower die.  The stamp is from JustRite's stamp set Greetings From Paris.  I have had this set for a long while and never used it.  It fits the card well and the font is so pretty.

I am off to give my hubby a huge hug and show him the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you all have a great Sunday!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Thinking of you bunny card

Happy Sunday All!

It has been a great crafty weekend here.  On Friday I took a vacation day and headed with some of my crafty friends, Janice and Valerie, and Janice's crafty mom, Ruby, for a day of craft shopping.  It was so much fun and we found some real crafty treasures!  Then, yesterday it was an early meet for Janice and I at Valerie's house where we spent the whole day and late into the evening crafting.  I think I cleaned up my craft mess at 2am.  Quality craft time! But I think I have a crafting hangover today.  :)

One of the cards I made last night is for two challenges: Kraft Journal's Inside and out and the Cardabilities Sketch.  The base was made from Kraft card stock.  I applied Tim Holtz' Picket Fence to the edges.  Simple Stories' Homespun supplied the background paper inside and out of the card.  Kraft card stock was cut using Tim Holtz' Sizzix die Easter Elements and also the flourishes from Spellbinders die set Venetian Motifs.  The flourishes had Picket Fence applied and the bunny had TH crackle paint in Picket Fence applied.  The bunny then had TH Brushed Corduroy ink added along the edges. A doily was die cut from more of the Homespun paper.  "Thinking of You" from JustRite stamp set Enjoy the Day was used on the banner.
The inside contains the Homespun paper and doilies die cut from Couture Creations' Blossom Yarn.  The lovely sentiment is from JustRite's Grateful heart stamp set.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Thanks to my crafty friends for a fabulous weekend!
Hugs to all!
Kathy Jo

Random draw winner...

Hello All!

Thanks to everyone who left the sweet comments on my post last week!  I decided to use a Random Gingerator for the draw.  This is my cat Ginger:
As you can see, he likes to root around in my scrap paper bin.  This particular photo shows what happened when he shoved his face into the bin and had a die cut piece of paper around him.  What better person...err kitty...to pick the random paper?  He is quite the pro at stealing paper now.
He goes in for the bait.

He grabs the name.

Congrats, Lisa Fish

Have a great day, Crafteteers!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Crafting Musketeers April challenge: Monochrome

Hello Crafteteers!

It is time for a new challenge at Crafting Musketeers: Monochromatic.  For my DT card I decided to go with black.  This choice was totally determined by my cute cat, Pepper, who is a tuxedo kitty.  I think she approved of the color choice!
My Monochromatic Kitty, Pepper
The stamp is by Inkadinkado and was die cut using Spellbinders Classic Squares.  Polka dot paper was cut with Marvelous Squares and then black was cut using Captivating Squares.
I applied black ink to one side of my Cuttlebug embossing folder and embossed.  I really like how the background turned out!
The bow is seam binding dyed using Tim Holtz' Black Soot.  I applied wee bling on the image and on the die cuts as shown.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Looking forward to seeing your monochromatic creation this month at Crafting Musketeers!

Don't forget, today is the last day to leave a comment on my post to enter the draw for the Quietfire Stamp!

Hugs,
Kathy Jo
