Red, White and Blue Birthday Kraft Birthday card

Hi again!

Made a quick little red, white and blue Kraft birthday card to share.

The card base is die cut Kraft paper using Spellbinders A-2 Fancy Ribbon Threader.  Clear vellum was dry embossed using a Cuttlebug scroll folder then die cut using Spellbinders Labels Three.  Red and white polka dot paper (October Afternoon) was die cut with Labels Fifteen and Labels Three.  Navy blue paper was die cut with Medallion One.  Light ivory linen card stock was cut with Standard Circles (LG) and then stamped in Majestic Blue (Versafine) sentiment "Happy Birthday and Many More" from JustRite set Forever Friends.  Tim Holtz's Fired Brick was inked along the edge of the circle.  Blue twine was stitched into the base as was ivory ribbon.  Recollections' blue rose button was assembled to the bow.  Martha Stewart's butterflies were punched in ivory and blue.

The above looks like a lot of steps/work, but the card went together quite quickly.  I find with the A-2 die that cards just seem to fall into place easily.  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

JustRite Challenge #096 "Sew Good" card

Hello All!

Hot air balloons are so hot right now (no pun intended...wait, I take that back...pun intended).  I have wanted to make a hot air balloon card for a while now but was unsure what to do: buy a die? Buy hot air balloon patterned paper?  It finally hit me today that I could make my own hot air balloon using materials I already have.

JustRite stamp Harlequin Script is the balloon pattern.  Stamp markers by American Crafts were applied to the stamp.  Spellbinders Standard Circles LG die cut the image.  The tricky part was applying the black string to the balloon.  I ended up using glue dots in the clinched locations shown.  Blue gems were applied over the cinched areas to add a little sass.  Pink paper was cut to size and a stripe embossing folder from Lifestyles Crafts gave it texture.

Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Tumbled Glass was applied to JustRite background Elegant Fronds (a must have for all paper crafters!) and stamped onto white paper.  The edges were distressed using the Tim Holtz distresser.  Faux stitches were applied inside the edges.  Buttons were added to the top corners.

JustRite "Give Flight to Your Dreams" from Botanical Butterflies was stamped onto die cuts from Samantha Walker's Blossom Tags and Accents.  Tumbled glass was applied to the edges.

It was interesting trying to figure out how to make the balloon.  I learned some things along the way and hopefully my next balloon card will be better...with more bling...and a bow somewhere!  (Feels so strange to not put a bow on a card!!)

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Secret Garden Mother's Day card

Hello Crafteteers!

I would like to share a card I made for my mother-in-law.  She is an avid gardener so Graphic 45's Secret Garden paper had to be used!

The layout was from a sketch on Will Stamp for Wine (http://willstampforwine.blogspot.ca/).  I realized after I assembled the front of the card that I forgot to emboss the blue vellum paper.  It was all taped down so I could not disassemble.  Perhaps you can imagine how great the embossed vellum would look.  :)

Dies used on the front were Couture Creations Alcyone Doily die, Spellbinders Eyelet Circles, and Spellbinders Standard Circles LG.  The stamp is from the JustRite set Fancy Frames.  Tim Holtz's Tattered Rose was used for stamping and distressing.  K & Company button from Hannah Stitched was applied to the ivory bow. The ivory lace is from Recollections Lace on a Roll.

The inside used more Secret Garden paper.  An ivory paper lace border was punched using Martha Stewart edging.  The sentiment (so lovely!!) is from Quietfire Design: Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while but their hearts forever.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
