Kraft Squirrel Harvest

Happy Thursday!

Is it just me or is this week flying by?

The Kraft Journal has a new challenge this week: Harvest.  Silly as it sounds, I often think of squirrels during the fall.  My parents used to own a small lot in a campground.  The campground was full of acorn loaded trees and I used to fill a garbage bag (no kidding) with acorn nuts for the squirrels in my neighborhood in town.  Everyday I would put nuts out and just enjoy seeing the happy squirrels snatch up the nuts and scamper off to bury them.  The squirrels soon realized that I was not a threat and would walk right up to me.  One was really brave and actually sat in one of my hands and took nuts from my other hand.  I felt like the "Squirrel Whisperer".  Those were wonderful memories!

Knowing all of that, it is no surprise that I purchased the Small Squirrel Stamp by Joanna Sheen at Giordano Studio Stamps.  He is absolutely adorable and I love how he almost looks like he is rolling the berry or nut in his hands.  The image was colored in with Tim Holtz markers, chalk and Stickles.  The image was die cut using Spellbinders Grand Big Scalloped Ovals.  The beautiful lace die cut is Couture Creations' Irish Dreams doily.  The ribbon is from Michaels.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great Thursday!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

  1. I LOVE IT! It's so CUTE! I'm totally drooling over that sumptuous ribbon too - I don't know how you used it. I'd just keep touching it & making silly noises.
I can't tell you enough how much I love your acorn collecting story too - those kind of memories are the most wonderful. Where we lived in BC we had what felt like millions of squirrels, but in NS we don't see so many. We had a few last year & I was like a little kid watching them out the window!

  5. That is the MOST FABULOUS stamp and your colouring of it makes it so realistic. That ribbon is scrumptious! I think that may be one of the nicest stamps I've ever seen ! I adore squirrels, I had one I used to hand feed too, now I just hand feed a Bluejay. River keeps the squirrels away !

  9. What a great memory! I have Hummingbirds I can get to sit on my finger to drink sometimes - I adore that feeling! I really like the darker CS you used for your image - the squirrel seems to pop off the page. And the ribbon is a great choice for fall! Thank you for playing “Anything Goes” at our house!
