Father's Day card- Scrapping 4 Fun Guest Designer and a GIVEAWAY!

Happy Friday All!

Today I am honored to be a guest designer at Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges.  The Challenge theme is Father's Day!
For the card I wanted to do "Sorta CAS".  The background was made using the Tim Holtz embossing folder, Rulers, from the Caps & Rulers set.  After embossing I applied Weathered Wood stain to the entire paper and Walnut Stain ink along the edges and embossed areas.  The sentiment is from Quietfire's stamp set Happy Family Days and was die cut using Spellbinders Labels 18.  The screw head brads I have had for years and it was great to finally use them!  Memory Box's die, Trellis, die cut red metal paper.  Next, two banners were cut and blue twine tied as shown.  Tim Holtz' trinket pin (first time the package was opened and I have had it since last year!) was adhered to the bow.

A big thank you to Scrapping 4 Fun for having me as a guest designer!  I really appreciate it!  And I look forward to seeing every one's Father's Day cards!

BTW, do you like the embossing folder used on the base?  Just leave a comment, become a follower and my cat Ginger will draw the lucky name on Tuesday.  He did it last time if you want to check it out.  Yep, can't get any more random than a curious kitty drawing a name!  As a heads up, the packaging is bulky so I may flatten it for delivery.  Here is the set:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you like my Sorta CAS card.  :)
Have a good weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

By The Sea birthday card, Scrapping4fun Challenge entry...Can I have your vote? :)

Hello again!

In April I was lucky enough to win Challenge #14 at the Scrapping 4 Fun challenge blog.  The next step in the challenge is as follows: the challenge winners from Challenges 8-15 submit a project following the same challenge theme.  Rachelle at Scrapping 4 Fun gave all of us this sketch:
Each challenger made a project and is posted now at the Scrapping 4 Fun blog.  Blog visitors get to vote for the favorite project and the winner wins the grand prize of  three packs of Pion Design Paper!  Awesome prize!

For my project I went with a card using Graphic 45's By the Sea paper and Quietfire Design's Happy Birthday Plain & Simple stamp.
Also used was a cute as a button die from Quickutz to make this sweet crab:
I wove twine along the top and bottom edges for a fun, by the sea feel.
Inside the Pier 45 pocket is a tag and a seashell was added to the top.  I applied Stickles and glaze to the shell:
The flags were made using DCWV fiber paper, cut irregular (for a worn look) and Tim Holtz' Scattered Straw ink was applied along the edges (a little tricky in this photo...sorry!):
Thanks so much for stopping by to see the card!  I would so appreciate your vote, if you have time!  To vote, you have to state in the comment section "I vote for #14, Kathy Jo".  :)
Have a great week!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Remembering You

Hello Crafters!

Yesterday I shared the butterfly birthday card using a new Quietfire stamp set and Bo Bunny's Weekend Market paper pad.  Today I am sharing another card using the same paper and a stamp from the new Quietfire stamp set Garden Bench Collection.
I applied Tim Holtz' Distress Stain in Picket Fence to the papers and used the heat gun to dry it right away.  (Using the heat right away gives the paper a white wash finish whereas if I had let it soak into the paper it would have been very subtle.)  The papers were die cut using Spellbinders Labels Twenty Eight, A2 Devine Eleoquence and Romantic Rectangles Two.
The Quietfire Garden Bench Collection contains the following stamps.  The "If You Can't Say Something Nice" is a hoot!  :)

Garden Bench Collection - Set of 4 Stamps
all of the new stamps released at Quietfire are on sale right now for 20% off.  Also, there is a Spellbinders sale, too.  Here is the link to the sale.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a good Sunday and to my peeps down in the States, have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Butterfly Birthday card

Happy Saturday!

Anyone like butterflies?  With summer knocking on our door that means we should see many butterflies in our gardens...and on our crafty projects.  What a fabulous time of year!

Sometimes I do not get in my craft room as much during the summer so I decided to make a birthday card for my stash.  The card is using the new Happy Birthday Plain & Simple stamp set from Quietfire.  The patterned paper is also from Quietfire- Bo Bunny's Weekend Market.  It was quick to put together, can easily be mailed and it has a butterfly.  :)
It seems I cannot get enough of the Happy Birthday set.  I have two more cards next week scheduled that also use the set.  Easy to make several different cards using the set since there are seven stamps in the set.  Here is the entire set:
Happy Birthday Plain & Simple - Set of 7 Stamps
It comes as unmounted and cling.  My set is cling and it has not left my crafty desk.  I wonder if there is a rating on rubber stamps like tires have?  Instead of 60,000 miles it might be rated to 5,000 stampings.  LOL.  I will tell you if I get to that point.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Flip It card using Quietfire's "A Mother's Greatest Masterpiece" set

Hi Crafters!

Wednesday...finally! We are halfway to the weekend.  :)

Last year I went home to visit family and Hobby Lobby (LOL).  In one of their clearance sections was a Sizzix Flip-It die.  Fast forward to last night when I finally used it.  What a fun die!  I grabbed some happy My Mind's Eye glittery paper and made this card.
I stamped the new stamp set from Quietfire (A Mother's Greatest Masterpiece) to two die cuts from Spellbinders Eighteen.  The wee butterflies was punched from Martha Stewart's butterfly punch.  Of course bling was added and a bright yellow bow.
Such an easy card and having the sentiment swing to the funny second stamp was perfect.
Here is a look at the entire stamp set:

Quietfire and Graphic 45 Bird Song Birthday card

Hello All!

Today I am sharing a card using one of the new stamps from Quietfire's Happy Birthday Plain & Simple set.  Lucky me, I just received the Spellbinders Ribbon Banners and the Happy Birthday stamp fits perfectly inside of it!  I also used scrap pieces of Graphic 45's Bird Song paper for the card.  For anyone that knows me, I save every scrap of Graphic 45 paper unless I know that it is so small that it won't make a wee banner, a small trim piece or a corner for a photo...just imagine my paper scrap stash!  I can't help doing that because the paper is so nice that I don't want to waste any of it.
Here is a closeup of the Happy Birthday in the banner die.  I also used a blueish grey chalk on the banner to match the coloring in the birds' bodies.  The photo makes the lace look a little weird because it was dyed using Tim Holtz's Barn Door and Scattered Straw but for some reason it looks pink in the photo.  In person, it does match the color of the flowers in the papers.
The Quietfire stamp set is a new release this month.  The set contains 8 cling stamps and is shipped on a plastic hardboard for neat storage.  Below is an image of the other stamps in the set.  I like the different fonts and sizes of the set- it makes it quite versatile.  Right now there is also a special on new stamps at Quietfire: 20% off new stamps!

Thinking of You card

card, My Mind's Eye Follow Your Dreams mini paper pad, Quietfire Thinking of you stamp set, Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles,
Hello!  Just a quick post to share a bright Thinking of You card.  The card was one of those last minute cards that we all have made at least once before!

The stamp is from Quietfire's two stamp Thinking of You set. I chose the larger stamp of the two stamps for the card.  It fit quite nicely into the second largest die from the Spellbinders die set Timeless Rectangles.
card, My Mind's Eye Follow Your Dreams mini paper pad, Quietfire Thinking of you stamp set, Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles,
The paper is from My Mind's Eye mini paper pad Follow Your Dreams.  It really makes the stamped die cut pop and the red ribbon adds even more cheerfulness to the card.

The receiver may think because of the eloquent stamp and the detailed dies that this card was time consuming...but it was simply two large die cuts, one medium die cut stamped, one cut to size patterned paper and a juicy red bow.  Quick and easy!  But the receiver does not need to know that!  ;)

New Quietfire Stamp Blog Hop: Thanks, Fill'er Up T stamp

Hello Crafters!

Today is a fun filled day for the Quietfire Design: we are celebrating the release of a new stamp, Thanks Fill'er Up T.  Isn't it cool?  So many possibilities to fill in that T and the Quietfire Team is showing some of their ideas...it is well worth hopping over to see the fun ideas!

Thanks - Fill 'er Up T
For my card I wanted to do a cheerful chalkboard design for the T.  I used the new Prima paper pad "The Optimist" and picked out the happiest sheet for the background.  The doily was die cut using Couture Creations' Lily G.  TH distress inks were applied as shown:
The focal point is the Thanks stamp used on more of the Prima paper.  I just love the way it stands out on the paper!  I fussy cut three flowers from my scrap paper and used them to fill in the T.  Of course I applied Stickles to add even more emphasis on the fill.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you enjoyed the card made with the Thanks stamp...I know I enjoyed using it!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Challkboard Birthday card

Hello Crafters!

Just a quick post to share a card I made for the current challenge at JustRite: Chalkboard Birthday.
The base was made from chalkboard paper die cut using Spellbinders' Reflective Moment.  I think this may perhaps be my favorite new Spellbinders set...just can't get enough of that large die!  The background was made using JustRite's Diamond Filigree Background Stamp.  Next is white paper die cut with Spellbinders' Mystical Embrace.  Finally, the sentiment (from JustRite set Birthday Vintage Labels Four) was stamped on chalkboard paper die cut with Opulent Ovals.  Added black lace, ribbon, a bow, bling and a button then...voila!  The card is complete.

That was it.  Told you it was a quick post.  :)

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs!

Thanks card using Quietfire's new Thanks stamp

Happy Mother's day!

I hope all of the mom's out there are having a perfect day!

This morning I played in the craft room for a while using Quietfire's new Thanks stamp.  The stamp is so cool: it has an open area in the T to add bling, color, patterned paper, a notch out, texture, whatever, to make the Thanks look even more awesome.  I stamped it out I don't know how many times to try out new things to do with the open area.  Suzanne is so creative and clever!

At one point I realized that I should probably make a card.  LOL  Out came the Distress products! The newsprint paper had picket fence stain applied.  Next, Thanks was stamped using black Archival.  The T was colored using TH Distress markers in Worn Lipstick, Broken China and Scattered Straw.  I made a tissue paper rose with Worn Lipstick and Scattered Straw.  Picked Raspberry was used on the seam binding bow.  The background was dry embossed using Couture Creations' Trellis folder.  The raised areas were heat embossed in black and Broken China Stain applied.
So what do you think of the stamp?  I am totally digging it.  :)

Before I head out, I wanted to share photos I snapped of some of my spring blooms.  They are from one of my gardens on the north side of our home.
This is the first garden to bloom every year and it is such a pleasure to see the garden come to life.
Looking so forward to the other gardens showing off!  Don't you just love spring?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great Sunday!

Kathy Jo

Believe in Yourself, Quietfire and Spellbinders

Hi All!

My postal person brought a fantastic package today: my new stamps from Quietfire Design!  Not only are all of the stamps awesome but some sets will now come as clings.  Yay!  I grabbed my new goodies, reluctantly did some things around the house (boring)...and then it was Welcome to Craftville...population Me.  :)

Tonight was play dedicated to the new If You Don't Believe In Miracles set.  I stamped the Believe in Yourself sentiment in Majestic Blue (Versafine) and die cut it using Spellbinders Labels One.  Blue metallic paper was dry embossed using Spellbinders Ornate Labels One.  I trimmed it to 4.25" square and used my Versamark pen on the raised areas.  White and gold embossing powder was applied.  A white butterfly (Spellbinders Les Papillions Two) was dyed using Tim Holtz Scattered Straw ink, as were the edges along the sentiment die cut.  Seam binding was dyed using Scattered Straw Distress Stain.  I cut a piece of white paper to 4 3/8" square and dyed it with Scattered Straw.  All of this was applied to a tent fold white card 4 5/8" square.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a fantastic Friday!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Birthday card- Quietfire and Spellbinders

Hello All!

How is your week going?  I hope great!  I have been playing with my new Spellbinders and trying to figure out how to make cards that are a flatter (as least flatter to me) to mail.  I always seem to make a card that does not fit well in envelopes.  My goal tonight was to make a quick little birthday card that had two layers...but I ended up with six on the front part of my card.  LOL.  Let's just say it is a work in progress.

The sentiment is from Quietfire's set Happy Family Days and I can't get over how much I keep using this set!  The paper was free from a magazine (three cheers for cool free paper!).  The layers are from top to bottom: Spellbinders Mystical Embrace, seam binding dyed with TH Victorian Velvet, two Spellbinders Corner Flourish, one Die-Versions Ornamental Fence (used on vellum), one sheet of patterned paper, and the base is Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles.  Also used were TH inks in Victorian Velvet and Walnut Stain.
The good thing about my "flatter card" is that I actually did not apply a big flower to my bow (I was tempted!) and went with a single pearl.  High fives to a card that is mail-able!
Have a good night and thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
