Inky fun snowflake Christmas card!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Are you looking for an inky, easy, last minute winter card to create?  Look no further than this festively fun card using Suzanne's holiday stamps.

The main stamp set used is the lovely A Whisper On My Nose stamp set:

It is a three stamp set (two individual snowflakes and the poem).  I also used snowflakes from other Suzanne stamp sets but you can easily just use the two snowflakes from this set.

Card instructions:
1-    Create a tent fold 4.25 x 5.5" card base from red card stock.
2-    Cut a piece of white or ivory card stock to 4 x 5.25".
3-    To prevent static, use an anti-static pouch on your white card stock.  Use Versamark or white embossing powder to stamp the snowflakes.  Use embossing powder (such as the Gesso White Modern Gilding Powder) to heat emboss the snowflakes.
4-    Use a red water reactive ink (such as Spectrum Noir Water reactive or Ranger Distress Ink) the create an ombre background.  Start with the red on the bottom and gradually lighten as you go up.  Wipe snowflakes off with a clean, dry cloth to remove the red ink.  Optional: flick water on the background and pat dry for a wet, distressed look.  Use double sided tape to mount to card base.
5-    Stamp the poem using black ink (heat emboss using the Gothic Black Gilding Powders looks fabulous!).  Die cut using a square stitched die.  Apply red ink along edges.
6-    Die cut red card stock using the next larger size stitched square die.  Mount poem onto red die cut.  Use double sided foam tape to mount to card front.
7-    For extra awesome, add gems or glitter to the snowflake centers and randomly on the background.

The red really makes the snowflakes pop and adds a festive feel to the card.

New release from Crafter's Companion!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Have you seen the new releases from Crafter's Companion?  Many of the new releases are available on HSN in the U.S.  Most products will be available on the Crafter's Companion online store, too.  The online store may be a couple of weeks or more behind the HSN release.

I just thought I would pop in and share some of the samples created for the show.  The first photo (above) shows off the new Edge-ables curved dies.

A new set of word dies have been released.  The Family die set is perfect for not only card fronts but also albums and scrapbook pages.
"You make my heart happy" looks great with the dotty stencil die and Spectrum Noir wax background.  Great for Valentine's Day and albums!
The It's Your Birthday was too fun and coordinates well with Crafter's Companion Celebrations patterned paper.
A new release of Create-a-card stamp and die sets include the Butterfly frame set.  I used the set with Spectrum Noir Aqua markers and soft vellum embossed paper.
A fun new collection is the Best of British.  It includes papers, dies, stamps, and embossing folders.
Crafter's Companion also released new card making kits.  My favorite is the Easel Card Kit.  Such beautiful colors and patterns!
The Push Up Posies is another kit and wow- the results are amazing!  A great project to brighten anyone's day!

Above are just some of the project samples created for HSN.  Feel free to join the Fans of Crafter's Companion on HSN Facebook group or I'm a Crafter's Companion Facebook group for more inspiration and sneak peeks of upcoming releases!

Stamp focus: Layered "Perfect Posy"

Helloooo Crafty Friends!

It may be cold and snowy here in Nova Scotia but my mind is thinking of spring and flowers.  Today's card is a reflection of those thoughts.

The card focus is the beautiful Gemini stamp and die set: Perfect Posy
Gemini Layering Stamp and Die - Perfect Posy
The Spectrum Noir Dye inks were used for the layering and I adore the colors!  (I have a few favorite colors of Spectrum Noir inks and Fuchsia is definitely one of them!)
The sentiment was stamped and die cut using Crafter's Companion Torn Edge Rectangles dies.
This card makes my heart happy.  The flowers and colors are just what is needed on a cold winter's day.  :)

Pink Ink Designs: Mixed Media "Hare"

Hello Crafty Friends!

Have you ever come across a product image and said to yourself "Oh my word...I need that!"?   That is exactly what happened when I first saw Pink Ink Designs' Hare stamp set.  That sweet face and those eyes drew me in.  The Hare was ordered and as soon as it arrived I was crafting!

The hare was stamped onto watercolor paper and colored using Spectrum Noir Water Reactive inks.  Just look at those blushed cheeks!
Nuvo drops were applied as shown.  The glitter drops were also spread along the inside of the ears.

The background was created using more of the Water Reactive inks.  The butterflies, rabbits, and foliage were added using Spectrum Noir dye inks.  More of the Glitter drops were added to the foliage.
Very happy with the first project I made with the Pink Ink Designs Hare stamp set.  The hare is such a cutie!

Product used:
Pink Ink Designs, Hare
Spectrum Noir, Water Reactive Inks and Dye inks
Spectrum Noir, Waterproof ink
Spectrum Noir Aqua paper
Nuvo Crystal Drops and Jewel Drops

Foiling Fun! Radiating "Love you"

Hello Crafty Friends!

Have you tried Crafter's Companion FoilPress?  It is an amazing little tool and adds a whole new level to your papercrafting.  I keep the machine on my craft desk and consider it one of my "must haves".
Crafter's Companion - Gemini - FoilPress Machine
The card today features the "Love you" radiating Foil Stamp 'n' Cut die.
Gemini FOILPRESS Elements Radiating Stamp 'N' Cut Die - Love You
The Radiating Foil Stamp was used with Berry foil onto Kraft card stock.  It was cut to size and Spectrum Noir Water Reactive inks were applied to the edges for a vintage look.
Crafter's Companion Luxury Glitter card stock is a fabulous pairing with foiled stamp dies.  (The red and gold luxury card stocks are always nearby my crafty space.)
As a heads up regarding the foils: Crafter's Companion offers two types of foils, Papercraft and Multi-surface.  If you plan on foiling only paper then the Papercraft is your choice.  (Several times I have made a shopping card and added the wrong foil type.  Luckily I caught the error when double checking my cart.)

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a happy, crafty day.
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Video Tutorial: simple yet stunning Valentine's Day / Love cards using Quietfire Design

Hello Crafty Friends!

Every Thursday on the Quietfire Design Facebook page we have a FB Live.  Usually the talented designer and owner, Suzanne Cannon, delights us with her tutorials.  Every so often I pop in and share a technique or tutorial.  This week I shared how to create two different Love/Valentine's Day cards using the Quietfire Design set, Love/Valentine's Day:

Valentine's Day/Love, set of 8 stamps - Mounted

It is a beautiful set of eight rubber stamps featuring gorgeous calligraphy details.

The first tutorial featured was a simple, yet lovely card using the ornate heart stamp and the "Have I told you lately that I love you" stamps:

The second card was also simple to make with stunning results.  The stamps look gorgeous embossed in the Modern Gilding Powders:
