CAS wedding card- Craftin Desert Divas DT challenge card

Helllloooo Crafters!

The design team has been busy with a new challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas: Say it with a Sentiment.  Awesome challenge!  And I had just the card for it...

Recently I was asked to make a wedding card for a work colleague.  I said yes, of course, but then quickly realized I never made a wedding card before!  Luckily I own a couple of JustRite stamp sets and I just happened to have three sets that worked for this card:  Vintage Pearls Labels ("To have and to hold"- sentiment on the card front), Kindness (the gorgeous stamped background surrounding the front sentiment), and Antique Valentine Tags One (the fancy heart scroll and "Congrats" sentiment on the inside).  All of the stamped images were embossed in silver and Stickles was applied to add more shimmer.

Spellbinders Labels 20 was used on the front and inside, as shown.  The pretty lattice paper is from My Mind's Eye mini pad, Be Amazing.

So there you have it- my first wedding card!  Guess what else it is?  My first design team member post for Craftin' Desert Divas!  YAY!!!

The challenge runs for two weeks and I hope to see your project in it!  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

JustRite Challenge #106, Color Inspiration

Hello!

I do hope you all had a great Sunday.  It was absolutely gorgeous here in Nova Scotia.  We took our Saint Bernard, Ella, for a nice long walk at the dog park and it was just the best weather- not a cloud in the sky and the sun offset the occasional cool breeze.  It was a magnificent day.

Onto crafty time:  The JustRite challenge #106 ends this Wednesday.  The challenge is to use the colors Orange, Olive and Violet on a project.

For my project I decided to use an ivory card base die cut using one of the two new dies I purchased from the JR Spellbinders sale last month: Captivating Squares.  Green was die cut from the other JR Spellbinders die I purchased: Botanical Swirls.  Ivory was die cut using Spellbinders Medallion Four and was assembled under the die cut (JR Vintage Labels Three) stamped with Winged Vintage Labels Two and Three in light violet.  "Something Just For You" (JR Winged Vintage set again) was stamped using VersaFine's Olympia Green.  The spray of flowers from JR set Botanical Butterflies was colored and fussy cut then assembled as shown. Stickles was applied in the flower centers. Orange pearls were applied to the Medallion die and the ribbon.

The inside used the second die from Captivating squares and the outside die from Medallion Four.  I like how those two dies mate...it is quite lovely.

In case you are wondering, the specks you see on the ivory is not from a dirty camera lens or dirty fingers, there are specs of color in the ivory paper.  It looks so neat in person but probably shows up as errors on my card!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Poinsettia Christmas Card- Totally Gorjuss DT Challenge Card

Hello Crafters!

It is that time of the week...another fun challenge at Totally Gorjuss.  This week the challenge is Traditional Christmas Colors!  Woo-who!  I love making Christmas cards.

Spellbinders Gold Majesty Circles arrived last week...I was so happy to get it!  As soon as I saw that this week's challenge was Traditional Christmas Colors, I knew I had to use my new die in the challenge.  It is a gorgeous die set.  Hope you all will not tire of seeing it on my cards.  :)

Majesty Circles was used on the green and the ivory die cuts.  Decorative Labels 22 die cut the red and ribbon was threaded through the ends.  Spellbinders Poinsettia Dies stamped with JustRite's Festive Poinsettia stamp set were assembled as shown.  The sentiment was stamped on the ivory circle using JustRite's Christmas Inner Thoughts.  A green bow with a crystal brooch (Recollections) finished off the front.  All of this was mounted on gold paper dry embossed with Spellbinders folder Framed Labels Eighteen.

For the inside I dry embossed green paper and then adhered ivory paper die cut with the majesty circle.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope to see you Christmas card in the challenge this week!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Joyous Noel card using Spellbinders Branching Out dies

Happy Monday!

The Spellbinders die set Branching Out arrived on Friday...Woot-Woot!  I went through my scrap bin and played with the three dies.  What a fantastic set and the little leftover bits of paper easily come out of the dies.  Super sweet.

I realized after looking at my die cuts and bits of scrap that I had a Christmas card almost complete- the branching out base was done, the green paper and woodgrain papers were cut and the ribbon bow was a practice ribbon I had done last week.  Cool!
Now all I needed was a focal point...enter JustRite's Noel Christmas Ornament.  I stamped it in red then embossed it in red glitter powder.  I do not have pigment green ink to match the bow or paper so I used a darker green color, stamped it out once on a piece of scrap paper then stamped it on the ornament.  Voila!  Lighter shade of green.  To finish it off I distressed the edges and added faux stitches.
Hope you like the card!  It was so fun to make.  Another Christmas card done...YAY!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your wonderful comments!

Have a wonderful week.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Happy Birthday Brewmaster

Hello Crafters!

My husband's birthday was last week and I wanted to make a card that is unique for him.  He brews his own beer so we have hops, grains and yeast stored in our home.  Not to mention the chemistry vials and containers in his brewing area.  I jokingly tell him that our basement is looking more and more like an episode of Breaking Bad!  Well, there are not a lot of beer brewing stamps out there (big surprise) but Tim Holtz does have the Chemistry stamp set.  It is perfect for a brewmaster birthday card!

I wanted it to look manly and vintage with a little bit of fun.  I stamped out the images on watercolor paper and used TH distress inks and pens to color.  On the apron I hand drew a hop, colored it in and applied glitter for a good laugh.   (Which my husband did think it was funny.)  The frame is from K&Company's Embossed Frames pad.  The background paper is Kaisercraft's Velvet Ensemble.

For the inside I used Spellbinders Labels 17 with more of the Velvet Ensemble paper.  The Happy Birthday is from JustRite's Anchors Away stamp set.

The back is another die cut of the TH Chemistry set.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments!  They are so appreciated!

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Dots, Woodgrain and Floral Tri-fold card

 Happy Saturday, Crafters!

Do you know what Saturday means? Another challenge at Totally Gorjuss.  The challenge this week is Dots...a perfect excuse to make a project using my favorite pattern!

Recently I purchase a package of the My Mind's Eye 12x12 Howdy Doody collection.  Not only did it contain two of each of the papers but also the stickers, rub-ons, wood cutouts and other goodies.  It was a steal of a deal for only $5!!  Woo-who!  So, I thought I would make a tri-fold card using this kit.

The front panel was made using a pale yellow background with white polka dots.  Mini bouquets are also on the paper- so pretty.  I die cut a doily (Couture Creations die, Alcyone Doily).  I applied TH distress ink Bundle Sage to a wood cutout and then applied the beautiful flower rub-on.  A large pale green bow, yellow twine and peach rose (Recollections) was then assembled.
The tri-fold inner panels used the bottom portion of one of the woodgrain sheets.  It also has the most colorful roses...I love this paper!  I fussy cut one of the stickers (My Favorite Things About You) and adhered to the last panel with half a doily.  The other half of the doily was quartered and adhered to the front.

The craziest part of this card?  I did not stamp anything!  I do not believe I have made a card without a stamp before...kinda neat, huh?

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your wonderful comments!  Looking forward to seeing your projects at Totally Gorjuss!

Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Kraft JustRite Autumn Splendor Card

Hello Crafters.

I do hope you all are having a good weekend.

Today I am sharing a card made combining the Kraft Journal Challenge Sketch and JustRite's Autumn Splendor Challenge.

The ivory card base was made using the Kraft Journal's think ivory linen paper.  The paper is wonderful to work with and is perfect for a card base.  The ivory paper was cut using Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle.  The Kraft sketch shows a small square over a vertical band.  Well, I decided to change the sketch a bit by making it larger and putting it under the band...this change really accentuated the JR Lace Background stamp (stamped with ColorBox's MicaMagic in green and then embossed).  TH distress inks in Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Red Barn was applied as shown.  The circular die cut stack is as follows: textured gold linen paper die cut using Memory Box's Quinn Flourish, Kraft paper die cut using Spellbinders Stately Circles, ivory paper die cut using Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles.  JR stamp set Kindness provided the "You mean the world to me" sentiment.  The leaves are Spellbinders Little Leaf Sets and the ivory twigs were cut using Martha Stewart's twig punch.  Red gems were applied in the areas shown.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great week.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Design Team Announcement and Joyeux Noel Card

Happy Saturday!

Excellent news: I am the newest Design Team member for Totally Gorjuss Challenges!  Woot-woot!  All of the Gorjussettes are so nice and their cards and projects are just fabulous...dare I say Totally Gorjuss.  :)  How awesome it is to be on the team...thank you so much, Net, for the invite to be a Gorjussette!  Today is my first Gorjuss posting- yay!

The theme for this week's challenge is "Stripes".  I decided to go with a Christmas card using Graphic 45 Christmas striped paper and my Eiffel Tower stamp by Stampendous.  The stamped image was heat embossed and I colored in the poinsettia leaves and holly with TH markers.  On all the red areas I applied Stickles in Candy Cane.  TH Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain was applied on the papers along the edges for a vintage feel.

The corrugated card base is from Recollections...is corrugation neat or what?  You will definitely see this base popping up on many cards!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see your striped card at the Totally Gorjuss Stripe challenge!

Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Baby Shower gatefold card

Hello again!

A work colleague is having a surprise baby shower tomorrow.  This is her first child and it looks like it will be a boy.  Guess what I made for her?  (lol)

This was a last minute card.  I was checking my blogs this morning and saw Lisa's post for Paper Playtime's challenge- use three different patterned papers.  I thought "Hey!  I have three different patterned papers."  ;)  Then I saw Craftin' Desert Divas new challenge which is babies.  I thought "Hey!  I have a baby shower card to make for Friday...perfect!"  Then I remembered the email on Friday stating there was a last minute change and it is now Tuesday for the shower.  D'OH!  So, I went up the the craft room and started at it.  Two hours later was this baby shower card.  (That is actually very fast for me.  I am usually doing laundry or I get distracted by dies and start playing with scrap paper...and then I realize I have been in and out of the craft room for a while.)  Anyway, on to the card!

The card is a gatefold (base is 8.5 x 4.25 and then scored at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8).  I used Anna Griffin dots and damask paper on the small folded sections.  The striped paper is MME's Be Amazing.  Ivory paper was die cut from Spellbinders' Stately Circles.
The outside has a die cut stack starting from the bottom: ivory (Stately circles), stripes (Standard Circles LG), ivory (Stately),  and dots (Circles LG).  The Bundle of Joy sentiment was stamped in Versafine's Vintage Sepia and then embossed in copper.  The stamp is from Michaels $1.50 CA ($1 US) bins.  Kaisercraft copper pearls were applied.  Stickles Waterfall was inserted in the stars.  A baby blue bow with a button/twine embellishment was the finishing touch.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great work week and back to school week!
Hugs,
K-Jo

I hear tell it is CAS at Kraft Journal, Pardner

Happy Labor Day, Ma'ams and Sirs. <she says as she tips her cowboy hat with her two fingers>

I reckon it is another contest over at the Kraft Journal.  Yesterday I rounded up my tools, lassoed some chalks and mowseyed on to my craft room...
Last week I received my package from Kraft Journal for winning the name the owl contest (Owliver).  The package was full of so much happy Kraft goodness!  I spread it all out on our dining room table and showed my husband.  One item definitely caught his attention: the Wild West Stamp set!  I have been wanting a cowboy themed stamp set for so long and there it was!  Woot-woot!  I took a peek at the upcoming Kraft Challenges, saw the next one was CAS and made this card.
The stamped image was from the Wild West set and the rope was also in Kraft package.  I just tied a double knot and double stapled it to the front as shown.  I created the sunset using 5 different chalks.  For the inside I die cut two papers using my new Spellbinders set, Labels Thirty One.  I stamped "Howdy Pardner" so that this could be an anytime card.

There you go, Buckaroos.  My cowboy CAS card.  Hope y'all liked it!

Hate to cut and run but I am mighty obliged you stopped by.
