CAS wedding card- Craftin Desert Divas DT challenge card

Helllloooo Crafters!

The design team has been busy with a new challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas: Say it with a Sentiment.  Awesome challenge!  And I had just the card for it...

Recently I was asked to make a wedding card for a work colleague.  I said yes, of course, but then quickly realized I never made a wedding card before!  Luckily I own a couple of JustRite stamp sets and I just happened to have three sets that worked for this card:  Vintage Pearls Labels ("To have and to hold"- sentiment on the card front), Kindness (the gorgeous stamped background surrounding the front sentiment), and Antique Valentine Tags One (the fancy heart scroll and "Congrats" sentiment on the inside).  All of the stamped images were embossed in silver and Stickles was applied to add more shimmer.

Spellbinders Labels 20 was used on the front and inside, as shown.  The pretty lattice paper is from My Mind's Eye mini pad, Be Amazing.

So there you have it- my first wedding card!  Guess what else it is?  My first design team member post for Craftin' Desert Divas!  YAY!!!

The challenge runs for two weeks and I hope to see your project in it!  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Kraft Journal Feature Me Friday Designer

Happy Friday!

Finally the end of the work week.  What makes today even better is that The Kraft Journal has made me the Feature Me Friday designer this week.  It is truly an honor.  Thank you Kraft Journal!

I would like to share a card that will also be submitted to the Kraft Journal challenge this week- Tie it On.  In my current personal challenge to make some cards other than rectangular, I decided to make the card using Spellbinders die set Labels Twenty.  Listed below are the other materials and tools used.  Please note that I had to use my spool of twine to prop my card up.  LOL.  I am not used to taking photos of shaped cards so the twine serves as extra eye candy and support.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment, if you want.  Comments are always appreciated!

Have a great weekend!
Hugs.

JustRite Challenge #097, Color Inspiration

Happy Sunday!

I would like to share a card I made for the JustRite Color Inspiration Challenge.  The challenge was to use JustRite product on a card or project and use orange, beige and blue.

The background was stamped with JR Floral Flourishes in Martha Stewart's teal blue ink and then heat embossed.  Tim Holt's Distress Stain Spiced Marmalade was then applied.

The funny thing about this card:  My "Spellbinders used" list could be very long, as could paper used.  There were 12 Spellbinder die sets that I tried out for this card that I just did not like.  Because of the tries and misses, many papers were cut and eventually set aside.  You should have seen my craft desk!  Orange, beige and blue papers were strewn everywhere!  I won't even begin to tell you about the ribbon and embellishments.  LOL.  That is what I get for trying to make a card without a sketch.  Lesson learned.  :)

My Spellbinders used list ended up as: Labels Twenty, Floral Flourishes, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, and Timeless Rectangle.  The JR stamp set Special Gifts Labels Twenty Nine provided the sweet sentiment.

As a heads up, Joann Fabrics is having an online sale on JR stamps!  I believe it ends today or tomorrow.  Very good prices!  And there is a shipping code SHFP146 for $2.95 shipping!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  To my peeps down in the States, have a great Memorial Day.

Music Washes Away From the Soul the Dust of Everyday Life

 Happy spring to you all!

I do hope you all had a great weekend!  The weather here was wonderful.  I spent time in a garden clearing out some remnants of last year's memories.  It was nice to get my fingers in the soil again and clear the way for this year's show.  Sometimes I garden with my iPod and sometimes I just let nature play its melody.  On Sunday nature played a sweet spring symphony and I realized one of the many things I love about spring: the birds singing.  They inspired me to make this card in spring celebration.

The card was made with an ivory base using the large Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle die.  The front is a gate fold also made of the ivory Timeless Rectangle.  Pink vellum was dry embossed and placed on the front and inside of the card.  Spellbinders Labels Twenty, Memory Box's Quinn Flourish, JustRite's stamp sets Fleur De Lis and Musical Notes were used as shown.  A magnet set was hid under the front label and under the inside label to close the card.
I usually do not use pink or ivory in cards so this was an interesting change for me.  For example, the ivory paper I have had since last summer and the pink paper from last spring!  In the end, I have realized that pastels should enter my card designs more often...and I should start using more of my paper I have stored in iris boxes waiting to be used.  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!
