Thank you to my followers and "To My Forever Friend" Card

Can you believe it is Sunday already?  The last day of June.  The last day for Google Reader.  Before I get to the card, I just wanted to thank all the Reader followers for my blog.  I have so appreciated all of your kind comments and smiles.  The time you have taken to stop by my little blog and leave some love has meant the world to me.  I am so fortunate because some great blogworld friendships have developed.  (Blog space hugs to you all!)

I do hope you have enjoyed being a follower!  Feel free to click the Bloglovin' button to keep in the crafting loop.  :)

Now, onto the card...

The rain has put a damper on my outdoor weekend plans so I spent some time in the craft room tidying things up.  Of course, tidying is boring compared to crafting so my attention was quickly averted.  I ended up combining some current challenges into one card.  The challenges that caught my eye were: lavender and lace (from the Allsorts blog), embossed squares (Cuttlebug Mania), oldest embellishment (Shopping our Stash) and Polka dots (Frosted Designs, Really Reasonable Ribbons).  There are also some AG challenges (Sunday Funday, Hiding in My Craft Room) that I also wanted to participate in.  So here is my collective challenge card:

I was able to use some scrap paper and embellishments on this card- woo who!  My oldest embellishment took some time to figure out.  I believe my oldest embellishment is the metal die under the green flower.  It was purchased probably 5 or 6 years ago.  Finally...the neglected die is being used!

Other Materials/Product used:

  • JustRite Antique Valentine Tags One (sentiment)
  • Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents (ivory flourishes)
  • Graphic 45 Secret Garden and A Ladies Diary (paper and tag)
  • Cuttlebug embossing folder, Baby's Breath
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,
K-Jo

Kraft/JustRite Miss You card

Happy Weekend!

I finished a Miss You card to send to my mom.  The card will be sent to her after I visit her on vacation.  I figured it would cheer her up after I have left.

The card was made using Kraft paper as the base and also the center vertical strip.  The layout is as per the Cardabilities Sketch #76 with a bit of artistic independence.  :)

The center was embossed using the Sizzix Tim Holtz swirl folder and then the swirls were distressed using Tim Holtz's Bundled Sage distress ink.  The flower stamped image is Hero Arts' Floral Scallop.  It was stamped in Rich Cocoa by Memento dye ink onto watercolor paper.  I used Distress Stain Bundled Sage and Victorian Velvet on the flowers.  After drying I applied Antique Linen over the entire image and Walnut Stain along the edges.  The image was cut out using Spellbinders Labels Seventeen.  The die cut piece was spritzed with gold mist.  Lace edging was applied onto the Kraft embossed paper and the die cut stamped image was foam taped on top.

The maroon paper is a paper that I have had for well over 4 years.  This paper was part of a special pack of maroon paper and I have been unable to find the same pack anywhere else.  I have not used the paper in the pack...until now.  (Wow-the challenges out there calling for us to use our stash is a good thing!  Got it..might as well use it!)

The Miss You stamped sentiment is from JustRite's Fancy Frames and was stamped onto a die cut banner from JR Vintage Labels & Banners Dies.  Spellbinders' Twisted Metal Tags and Accents provided the flourish near the flowers.

After the card was assembled, I added the double pearls in each corner since the corners seemed to be missing some flair.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you all have a fun weekend!

JustRite Challenge #097, Color Inspiration

Happy Sunday!

I would like to share a card I made for the JustRite Color Inspiration Challenge.  The challenge was to use JustRite product on a card or project and use orange, beige and blue.

The background was stamped with JR Floral Flourishes in Martha Stewart's teal blue ink and then heat embossed.  Tim Holt's Distress Stain Spiced Marmalade was then applied.

The funny thing about this card:  My "Spellbinders used" list could be very long, as could paper used.  There were 12 Spellbinder die sets that I tried out for this card that I just did not like.  Because of the tries and misses, many papers were cut and eventually set aside.  You should have seen my craft desk!  Orange, beige and blue papers were strewn everywhere!  I won't even begin to tell you about the ribbon and embellishments.  LOL.  That is what I get for trying to make a card without a sketch.  Lesson learned.  :)

My Spellbinders used list ended up as: Labels Twenty, Floral Flourishes, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, and Timeless Rectangle.  The JR stamp set Special Gifts Labels Twenty Nine provided the sweet sentiment.

As a heads up, Joann Fabrics is having an online sale on JR stamps!  I believe it ends today or tomorrow.  Very good prices!  And there is a shipping code SHFP146 for $2.95 shipping!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  To my peeps down in the States, have a great Memorial Day.
