It is January 11th...11 days into the resolutions. Time sure does fly when you are resoluting! Every year I always have several resolutions and 2014 is no exception. Here are my crafty resolutions for 2014:
- Finish at least one Christmas card by the 25th of each month
- Become a more organized crafter (I could not help but chuckle when I decided that on the 1st...and when I just typed it...LOL)
- Ensure that the inside of a card is complete before moving on to the next project
- Don't be afraid to use the pretty cherished paper or ribbon
Well, so far I can say I am have accomplished item 1 (high fives to myself), item 3 (you go girl!) and part of item 2 (insert applause here). I am so rocking the resolutions!
One action on my "organize to do list" was to find a way to record the colors and product I have from the Tim Holtz Distress lines. Last weekend I spent several hours on that project. Here is a sample:
For each color in the TH color world I made a card. The card had a punched flower for the stain, a 1.5" square for the ink, a 1.5" crinkled square for the ink, a piece of seam binding stained, and on either side of the ribbon is a spot for the distress marker. I can easily see what I have for product in specific colors and I can also easily match the TH colors to each other or to patterned paper. For some colors I am missing the stain (gasp!) or marker (oh no!) so the flower, ribbon or marker scribbles could not be added.
I think it was well worth the time and I have already referenced the cards a few times. :)
What are your crafty resolutions? Have you completed any cool crafty organization? I am all up for ideas!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
Kathy Jo, this is soooooo genius!!! LOVE IT!! I need to do something like this with my card stock and my dies... I have a ton and I can't always find the one I'm looking for or quickly reference the sizes!! I might need to make a binder!! So, far I have TRIED soooo HARD on resolutions (**& I will tell you that I usually don't make resolutions) ~~ but this year I decided to try it.. So far, I am about 75/25... but one of them was cutting back on crafting and I have about 9 posts next week....!?? WHAT!??? That's not cutting back... LOL!!

Oh wow, what an awesome way to organize the colors!! I need to do something like this, too. I printed out labels for all my Distress Inks and then inked the labels with the color, but it's not a true representation. I so need this!! Thanks for the inspiration!! Have a great evening :)

These sound like excellent resolutions - I'd be laughing if I added the organized one myself :) My resolution is to participate in jingle belles all year again, and to play at Merry Monday all year as well. So far so good :)
ReplyDeleteDayum girl! You are one resolute crafter! I love the color cards you've created and applaud your work to complete the inside of a card (mine are all nekid :S ) and to have xmas cards done each month. I'm following your lead for the xmas card except I'm doing one/week...and using a lot of never-before-used-product in the process! It feels good to be (somewhat) organized :D
ReplyDeleteHow much fun!!! You saw my Christmas card empty box, my craft room, how I collect everything for cardmaking, and the cardfronts I have set aside. LOLOL Quit peeking. I am going to try to do the first one for sure. Hope to have it up on my blog so I better get busy. What a fun blog!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on number 3 - I never do the inside of my cards - I must have over 100 just sitting there - if charity event pops up anytime soon I will be in such a rush to get them done.
