Secret Garden card- Life Is Better With Friends

Hello Fellow Crafters!

I would like to share a card submitted for a few challenges.  The card used my much loved and cautiously cut Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper.

The card is following a sketch for the Crafting Musketeers Challenge #4.  As soon as I saw the sketch I thought of Graphic 45- not sure why but it just called out to me.  As coincidence would have it, the Kraft Journal started a new challenge this week to create a card inspired by your favorite designer....I picked Gloria Stengel for my inspiration.  I have been admiring her work since I first saw it on the Graphic 45 site.  She has such a wonderful style and her cards are so full of life and color and texture.  Her creativity shows in every card and no two are same.  She really is a talented and creative paper crafter.

The card was made with a Kraft paper base.  Graphic 45's Secret Garden paper from the 8x8 and 6x6 pads were also used.  The die cut behind the adorable image of the two girls was cut from Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle die set.  Ribbon was added as shown, as were three small pink pearls.  An ivory tab was applied under the vertical rectangle and JustRite's sentiment "Life is better with friends" (from Spread Your Wings stamp set) was stamped in Tim Holtz's Tattered Rose distress ink.

I did not realize until after the card was completed that Gloria probably would have had it open from the top, but I think it still looks nice opening from the side.  :)

The following paragraph is directed specifically to the Crafting Musketeers so feel free to skip down to the Materials Used and Challenge sections if you wish.  The Crafting Musketeers is having a DT call and I would like to apply for the open DT position.  A wee bit about myself:  Although I have had a blog for a while, I did not really start blogging until January of this year.  I do blog on a regular basis- approximately 2-3 times per week.  I find that participating in challenges are a great way to try new techniques, meet fellow crafters and see other crafters' amazing projects.  I believe being on a DT would be a fun way to meet other crafters and share in the joy of paper crafts.  Thank you for the consideration.

Bird Birthday Card

Happy Saturday!

It has been a few days since my last post.  In that time I have made four birthday cards and finishing up a fifth today.  A busy birthday card making week!

The first card made was for my friend Janice.  Her and I frequent crafty stores together so I decided to use paper we had both purchased on one of our shopping trips: sei Field Notes.  I also wanted to go with a bright, summery theme so the paper was a perfect fit. The bird image was taken from the paper and used as the main focus of the card front.  Yellow card stock paper was cut using Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle.  Vellum paper was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  I tied green twine around the front and added a Recollections flower embellishment.

The inside also contains the embossed vellum.  The sentiments "Friends fill you heart with joy, your soul with sunshine, and your heart with love" (TPC Studio set Card Crafting Hello) and "Birthday Wishes" (JustRite).

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday!

This card is entered in the following challenges:

JustRite Challenge #097, Color Inspiration

Happy Sunday!

I would like to share a card I made for the JustRite Color Inspiration Challenge.  The challenge was to use JustRite product on a card or project and use orange, beige and blue.

The background was stamped with JR Floral Flourishes in Martha Stewart's teal blue ink and then heat embossed.  Tim Holt's Distress Stain Spiced Marmalade was then applied.

The funny thing about this card:  My "Spellbinders used" list could be very long, as could paper used.  There were 12 Spellbinder die sets that I tried out for this card that I just did not like.  Because of the tries and misses, many papers were cut and eventually set aside.  You should have seen my craft desk!  Orange, beige and blue papers were strewn everywhere!  I won't even begin to tell you about the ribbon and embellishments.  LOL.  That is what I get for trying to make a card without a sketch.  Lesson learned.  :)

My Spellbinders used list ended up as: Labels Twenty, Floral Flourishes, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, and Timeless Rectangle.  The JR stamp set Special Gifts Labels Twenty Nine provided the sweet sentiment.

As a heads up, Joann Fabrics is having an online sale on JR stamps!  I believe it ends today or tomorrow.  Very good prices!  And there is a shipping code SHFP146 for $2.95 shipping!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  To my peeps down in the States, have a great Memorial Day.
