Happy Wednesday, All!
It is October 1 already! This year is just flying by. Soon many of us will be full steam ahead on Christmas cards, decorations and packages. If you are finishing a Christmas card this month you should share it on Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra blog. It is a month long challenge to share your Christmas card and it is always anything goes. I am so honored to say that the Christmas Card Queen, Hazel, asked me to be the Guest Designer on her blog for October! Thank you, Hazel! How wonderful and exciting!
For the card I went with the so cute Christmas Window Santa from Bugaboo stamps. It was colored using copics and the clear glitter marker from Stella Wink was used on Santa's trimmings. Stickles was applied on the snowflakes. Along the bottom of the card is a strip of scalloped bling.
Thanks again, Hazel! And thanks to you for stopping by! I hope I see your creative Christmas cards at Craftyhazelnuts!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Storage Bins for flowers and washi tape
Hi Crafters!
I don't know about you all but space in my crafty space is at a premium. Finding better ways to store my crafty treasures is a never ending task for me. JustRite asked about any crafty storage solutions that we would like to share. I hope you like the ones I am sharing today.
One important lesson I have learned about my craft products is that packaging takes up so much of my valuable crafty space. Recently, my work was cleaning and reorganizing the electronics lab. Two storage bins were on the toss list and I said I would take them. Very good decision! Both bins ended up being used to store my flowers...
...and my washi tape!
You would not believe the packaging that was recycled. It cleared up a whole drawer in my storage tower for just the washi tape alone. Isn't that crazy? And I like both storage ideas better because the flowers and washi are sorted by color and makes it easy to find what I need. Simple idea...why did I not think about this a year ago? Oh..I know why...it is because I would rather be crafting than cleaning or organizing. LOL
Oh- and if you want to know my favorite storage area in my crafty space it is right behind my door. My husband put the 1x1 inch shelves on the wall for my wood mount stamps and I took an over the door shoe rack and converted it to a ribbon holder. It is such a good use of otherwise useless space!
Thanks for stopping by to see the storage items. Hope you all are having a good one.
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Adventure birthday card
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I hope it was great and you were able to squeeze in some crafty time. :)
Today I am sharing a card I made for my husband. It was a "milestone" birthday and I wanted it to be different. Milestone birthdays means entry into a new decade and some people take these birthdays not so well. My husband, on the other hand, has approached it differently and is achieving a goal that he has had for a while...and I am so proud of him for it! It seemed appropriate to make an enthusiastically aspiring card. The background stamp by JustRite- Let the Adventure Begin- was perfect for him!
It was stamped using Memento's Rich Cocoa. Tim Holtz Distress Stains were mixed with water and painted onto the image. The watch had glossy accents applied for a 3D effect. The key was colored and the new Stickles color Rose Gold was applied.
It was an enjoyable card to make as I hardly every do any "painting" or coloring. My hubby enjoyed the card, too!
Thanks for stopping by and have a good Monday!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Being Thankful for you card
Hello again!
I am back to share an autumn thankful card. This card was inspired by the sketch at Mojo Monday and Quietfire's new Being Thankful stamp set. Unlike the quick and easy tag I shared in the previous post, this one took a little more time but was well worth it!
The base was made from Kraft card stock. Patterned paper from Tim Holtz' paper pad, French Industrial, was cut to size and Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain applied. Quietfire's "Being Thankful" and "For You" was stamped using black Archival ink on scrap Tim Holtz paper. Forest Moss and Vintage photo were applied to the edges. Kraft card stock was dry embossed using a TH Sizzix embossing folder. Vintage Photo was applied on the swirls. The newly released Stickles in Rose Gold was applied to some of the swirls. Spellbinders die from Gold Circles One die cut orange TH paper and distressed. Card board was die cut from Spellbinders Little Leaf Sets and from Assorted Leaves. Clear Crackle was applied on two of the dies and stain was added after they dried. One die cut was left unfinished and only had Wild Honey Applied. The smallest leaf had more of the Rose Gold Stickles. Seam binding and Distress Stains in Wild Honey, Fired Brick, Mustard Seed, and Forest Moss made the bow. Below is a closeup:

"Snowflakes are kisses from heaven"- quick and easy Christmas tag
How is your weekend going? I hope it is going well.
A couple of weeks ago I shared my work desk and the project I was working on. At the time I was taking scrap pieces of my Kraft card stock and making tags for Christmas. It seems that every year I am rushing or scrounging for Christmas gift tags so I decided to get ahead and make tags from scrap paper. I am not completely done with all of the original tags so I will share those on another post. However, I did finish a different Kraft tag and this one is ready to share.
The tag is made from scrap Kraft card stock and die cut using my Sizzix tags die. I stamped the snowflake background and heat embossed using white glitter embossing powder. Next "Snowflakes are kisses from heaven" was stamped and heat embossed as shown. Seam binding and bakers twine was the finishing touch.
Here is a better look at the snap sentiment:
The tag was quick to make and I like the final product. This one will definitely be mass produced for Christmas gifts! If I change my mind and decide to only make a few, I would add bling to the ribbon bundle, dye the ribbon and add distress ink along the edges. Of course, sparkly gems would be applied. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Christmas gift card holder/wallet
Happy Friday!
Just wanted to pop in and share a Christmas gift card holder. It is super easy to make and I like the way it turned out. It could be made more masculine or more feminine with a few minor additions or changes. I made two wallets to show the wallet open and closed at the same time.
The outer shell of the wallet.
The inside of the wallet. The gift card slides into the small extension where the papers meet.
The front of the holder when it is closed. The ribbon holds it together nicely. :)
The supplies: Quietfire Designs Hold on to The Spirit of Christmas stamp, Spellbinders' Labels Nine, Sizzix' holly background embossing folder, Tim Holtz' stain and ink in Forest Moss, Patterned paper (inside) and Kraft paper as the base (Kraft Journal).
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

WOYWW #276
Hello Crafters!
I really enjoyed participating in WOYWW a couple of weeks ago. The sweetest crafters participate in the sharing! Last week was super busy (ultimate frisbee playoffs, company visiting, hosting a crafty afternoon at my place, etc) so I could not participate...but I think I have time to pop in again this week. I will share what I am doing now and some other things that I did the past couple of weeks. Hopefully the post is not too long!
Here it is...my messy crafty spot. Right now I am working on a project for the blog hop with Quietfire and Walnut Hollow. I put a coat of antique white paint on the box and started cutting out my patterned papers.
Last time someone said they were interested in seeing what was in the basket on my desk. It is mainly my adhesives. You may wonder what the pretty fabric item is...
...my friend Janice's mom is an amazing sewer. She made this cute sewing kit/wallet for me. I store my pins in it.
Someone also asked what was in the metal container to the left of my desk. It is supposed to be a tea tin but I store my baby wipes in it.
One thing I did last week was organize my buttons. Very happy with the progress thus far! Some people may say you can never have enough buttons. Well, I realized I actually do have too many buttons and made 6 ziplock bags (!) full of buttons to give to my crafty friends.
This jar however was not sorted. It is special: a jar of antique buttons from my mom.
On Saturday, my friend Rebecca and I drove to Carsand Mosher (a crafty store a little less than an hour away) and picked up some goodies. Graphic 45's Raining Cats and Dogs....
...dies and a stencil. Most of which was on sale!
And lastly a large Tim Holtz bag (50% 0ff!) that I plan on taking as my purse when I go to CHA in January. :)
Sorry for the long post! Had a lot to share! Thanks for popping in and I look forward to seeing your posts on WOYWW!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Love where you're at...
Hello Crafters!
This has been a good week in the craft room. I have been squeezing some time in to play with some new stamps and paper. Tonight I played with Quietfire's 'Love where you are at' stamp and 7gypsies' Victoria mini pad.
The card was made as per Die Cuttin Divas' sketch this week:
The card base was made from Kraft card stock. Patterned papers from Victoria were cut as per the sketch. Kraft paper was die cut using Spellbinders' die Elegant Ovals and white card stock using Spellbinders' Ovals. All paper except the card base has Distress Stain in Picket Fence applied to the edges.
The sentiment was stamped using Brilliance archival pigment ink in Pearlescent Poppy and heat embossed.
Hope you liked the card! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous Friday!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
This card is entered into the following challenges:
