Kraft "Pop of Color" Challenge card

Happy Sunday!

It is looking to be a fabulous day here in Nova Scotia.  Yesterday was gorgeous and today looks like a repeat.  I hope wherever you are that the day will be wonderful!

I would like to share a card I am submitting for the Kraft Journal Challenge "Pop of Color".  Last week I was unable to participate in their challenge due to a very busy schedule but I made sure to set aside time this week (i.e. not do some of the housework) to make a card.  :)

The card was made using Kraft paper and Spellbinders Tear Drop Circles (S4-344). The band was made using scrap yellow/white paper and brown ribbon. The butterflies are Spellbinders' Les Papillions Two (S4-395). The frame is constructed from Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals (S4-113) and Jewel Frame Accents (S5-144). The sentiment "Spread your wings and fly" is from one of my favorite JustRite stamp sets Spread Your Wings (CL-02170). Inks used were Memento Rich Cocoa and Tim Holtz's Scattered Straw.

As an FYI: it appears that I went a little pearl crazy on this card.  I did not have intentions of putting the white pearls on. Originally, I had use the white pearl accents pen in the areas shown but I mis-shaped a couple of them so I used the store purchased pearls instead.  Honestly, my pearls looked like I applied them with my opposite hand...and my eyes  closed.  LOL

Have a good one and thanks for stopping by!

Kraft Hello Card

Hello Crafteteers!

I tried my first CAS card yesterday.  It feels very weird to not use distress ink or sanded edges or bling or big bows...but that is the beauty of challenges: trying new things.  The Kraft Journal's challenge this week is CAS so I thought I would play along again.

The plaid paper is from my scrap bin, the hello stamp is a Michael's bin find and the lovely tree is Spellbinder's Whimsical Tree.  I have had the tree die for a few months now and never used it (ugh...why am I so bad like that?) and the scrap paper has been in my bin for I can't even guess how long.  The white dots on the tree are made from my white enamel accents that I bought last summer and have used (including this card) on one project!  LOL.  My goal is to start using those lonely, unused dies, tools and scrap paper.  This card definitely meets that goal!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Chicks Rule- Make It Monday Challenge

Happy Easter, Crafteteers!

The fine folks at the Kraft Journal had another design challenge this week: Chicks Rule.  I was not really sure what to do for the challenge so I did not try any layouts during the week.  Well, an hour ago this idea hit me so I went to my craft room and ran around like a crazy chick trying to make the card.  LOL.  My craft room looks like a chicken coop now.  :)

If you are interested in the other entries, take a peck...oops I mean peek here: http://thekraftjournal.blogspot.ca/2013/03/make-it-monday-with-kraft-outlet-chicks.html

Thanks for stopping by and stay crafty!
