A trio of Leisure Arts cards- watercolor, colored pencil and vintage Distress coloring

Hello Crafty Friends!

What a busy week it has been here on I'm a Little Teapot sharing projects for the FaveCrafts contest!  Today is no exception as I am sharing a trio of cards created using product from Leisure Arts and Xyron.  The card images are all from the Thank You Coloring Note Cards with Envelopes.

The package contains two sets of three different note cards.  The first card created was the happily designed "Thank you so much" and colored using the 30 pack of Premium Coloring pencils.  I ended up carrying the cards and pencils in my purse so that I could color during break time at work.  Every day I looked forward to my break and finishing another bit of the card.

I played with the coloring to try to give some depth and pop to the details.  My favorite area of detail are the petals on the sunflower.  The same coloring technique was used in several areas on the card.

 After the card was completed, I cut the note card in half and mounted it onto a card base.


Next, I decided to try out watercoloring a note card.  (It is important to know that the cards are not made from watercolor or mixed media papers.  I knew this before I starting watercoloring as I had full intentions of mounting it onto card stock.)  Leisure Arts' 30-pack of Watercolor pencils were used on the card front.

The card came together quickly!  After the image was dry, I mounted it onto a large sheet of double sided adhesive tape and then matted onto a card base:

After finishing the two above cards I decided to try out a vintage inspired card.  The image was completely covered in Distress Ink (Antique Linen).  Next I took a watercolor brush and used various Distress Inks to color the image.  The plan was to have it look like a 1960's style print with colors reminiscent of the time period.  Here is a closeup of the leaves:

When the card front was completed I cut the image, distressed the edges and then applied more Distress Ink along the edges.  It was mounted onto a card base.

The finishing touch was a piece of vellum with a die cut "Hello" mounted.  The Hello die cut was made as a sticker using the Anna Griffin Create a Sticker by Xyron.  I have the larger Create a Sticker by Xyron so I am very familiar with the method.  I really like this little sticker maker!  Not only is it super pretty, but it is small enough to bring to crops and keep on your work surface.  It has a layer of plastic above your created sticker for ease of removing the small glue balls that sometimes appear.  (No more adhesive balls on your fingers!)  Here is an image of the wee unit (I have the darker patterned sticker maker):

The card was now complete and I was very happy with the results.  It looks so cool!

What a fun little card set this turned out to be!  And I was able to play with three different techniques for the different card images.  A perfect excuse to craft!  :)

"Always Believe" Graphic 45 and Quietfire Design butterfly card

Hello Crafty Friends! 

Today is my day to post at Quietfire Creations and I created a card using the stunning new stamp from Quietfire Design, Always Believe:

Love the flowing letters of Suzanne's calligraphy!  The calligraphy is full of such light and delicate beauty...it reminds me of a butterfly gracefully fluttering by on a summer's day.  The image of butterflies following the exquisite calligraphy of the stamp inspired my card.  

The papers are from Graphic 45's Nature Sketchbook.  The butterflies were fussy cut and Stickles applied.

The stamped sentiment was die cut using a square die, the sentiment was left inside the die and Peeled Paint Distress Ink applied along the inside edges.

The stamp is one of several new releases from Quietfire Design.  All of the newly released stamps, dies and stencils can be found here.  Oh!  What a fabulous release!!

Scribbly Bird tag- Dina Wakely and Ranger products

Hello Crafty Friends!

I don’t know about you, but I am an early riser on the weekends.  It seems that Saturdays and Sundays fly by so I try to take advantage of every moment I can.  Last weekend I was up and outside at 6:30am with a table setup out in my yard.  My goal was to play with my ink sprays…and two hours later I had a stack of papers, ribbons and tags ready for future projects.  Luckily my neighbors did not see the scene as I was wearing some grubby clothes, my hair was crazy and the fir tree was lined with all of the items I had inked. 

One of the inked tags was used on the project shared today.  It was sprayed with Dylusions spray inks- my word, I love their bold colors!  After it was dry, Distress ink in Vintage Photo was applied along the edges.  The oh-so-sweet bird from Dina Wakley’s Scribbly Birds stamp set was water colored using Distress Markers, fussy cut and applied using foam tape.  Stickles was added to the beak and feet.

The words are from Cosmo Cricket’s Tiny Text sticker pack. 

The seam binding was dyed using the spray inks and Distress Stains in Vintage Photo and Barn Door.

It was a quick little tag to make.   And the bird is super adorable!

"The moment a child is born..." baby card

Hello Crafters!

A friend of mine and his wife are expecting their first child in a couple of weeks.  They will be the most amazing and wonderful parents!  It seemed fitting to use the stamp set from Quietfire "The moment a child is born".  

The card was made as follows from the base up: pink tent fold, white Cheery Lynn Dutch Scallop, pink Cheery Lynn French Pastry, white Cheery Lynn Two of Hearts (clear Distress Crackle was applied to the heart) and then the heat embossed sentiment cut by hand as shown.  All edges were distressed using Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.  The flowers were from my stash and the pink seam binding was dyed using Distress Stain in Spun Sugar.

Don't the doilies look so sweet stacked on this baby card?  It's funny, I never noticed how well the two bottom dies go together.  You will see this combo again.  :)

Yee Haw- Paper Crafts Country Fresh Challenge!

Hi Crafteteers!

The Paper Crafts Connection challenge for March was "Country Fresh"...a perfect excuse to use my Graphics 45 paper (French Country) and Craft Lounge's stamp set Bountiful Harvest!

The tractor was stamped on watercolor paper and I used Tim Holtz's Distress Ink dabbers with a wee bit of water to color the image.  The wood frame was made from MME Bramble Rose paper.  Faux nails were made with a black pearl pen.
