"Wishing you sunshine and puppies"

Hello Crafty Friends!

Last week I shared a mixed media project using the newly released Quietfire Design Whimsy stamp set and the Paw Prints stencil.  I could not put the new goodies away without making another project with them.  This time I created a clean and simple card.  

The paws stencil was used with Distress Inks (Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Broken China and Wilted Violet).  It was die cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs' Stitched Rectangles die.  Next, Wishing you was stamped onto white card stock, die cut using Cheery Lynn's Banner Die and inked using Broken China. 

The inside of the card was stamped with "Sunshine & Puppies" and die cut with another ECD Stitched Rectangle die.  Isn't "Sunshine & Puppies" so cute?  Who wouldn't like the wish of a day filled with sunshine and puppies?  :)  

The card was put together in a flash and the result was a happy card to give to a friend.

Graphic 45 manly birthday card

Hello Crafters!

My brother-in-law recently celebrated a birthday.  He is a huge sports fan so my hubby and I purchased a gift card at a local sports supply store.  Of course, I made him a card- sports themed- and it used Graphic 45's Good Ol' Sport papers and Quietfire Designs' Happy Birthday stamp.

On the left side of the card are banners from Cheery Lynn's Pierced Banners set.

Under the image is the Happy Birthday stamped sentiment...looks great with the Graphic 45 papers!

The inside are more Graphic 45 papers.  The image was used to hold the gift card (it was taped on only three sides and the gift card slid in).

I am starting to run low on the Good Ol' Sport collection (gasp!).  Maybe that will be their next Deluxe Collector's Edition.  hint hint :)

New Die Release! "Memories" Graphic 45 scrapbook page

Hello Crafters!  Kathy Jo here and I am so excited to share a project using one of the newly released A Way with Words dies, Memories:

Love, love, love this new die!  As soon as I received it I knew that I had to use it on a scrapbook page for our new puppy, Teddy.  The photo of Teddy and my hubby is too sweet and the Memories die is a perfect pairing with the photo.  I made sure to accentuate the lovely die by placing it on layered banner dies:

Admittedly, I have only completed a few scrapbook pages in the past couple of years but the die really had my mojo going.  Funny how one die cut can spark creativity!  With such a pretty die, I decided to use some of my treasured Graphic 45 paper for page (Botanical Tea)...and I am so happy I did.  

Now I have the first page in Teddy's scrapbook: "Memories".

"Believe" Graphic 45 card for Scrapy Land AG Challenge...and GIVEAWAY!!

Today starts another challenge at Scrapy Land: Anything Goes using a die brand that Scrapy Land sells.  Easy to do since Scrapy Land carries over 40 brands of dies!  Also, on this blog post you can enter for your chance to win the Cheery Lynn Pierced Banners die set:

All you have to do is be a follower (please tell me if it is Blogger or Email or Bloglovin') and tell me your favorite die set (or two).  Easy!  Now back to the card...

The card used several Cheery Lynn Dies: Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily, Dutch Scallop Square, and of course, the Pierced Banners.  The dies were used to cut several pieces of Graphic 45's Botanical Tea and Gilded Lily papers.  The lovely gold embossed stamped sentiment is from Quietfire Design's If You Don't Believe in Miracles stamp set:

I wish I could say I made the flowers but they were purchased.  (My flower making skills are still a work in progress!)

All of the dies were mounted on a tent fold ivory card stock and matching patterned paper adhered to the inside:

Scrapy Land Challenge card- "Thank You" using ECD and Graphic 45

Hello Crafty Friends!

For months I have wanted to tell you all some exciting news and today I can finally announce it: I am the newest member of the Scrapy Land Design Team.  Woo-who!  Last year I was lucky enough to be picked on the Guest Design Team and I had the best time.  The ladies on the team are not only talented but exceedingly nice.  I was a little sad when the Guest Design stint ended but ecstatic when Anne asked if I would consider staying on the team permanently.  I could have hugged her!  Today is my first challenge as a permanent design team member and I hope that you can participate.  The challenge is easy: anything goes as long as you use a brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  Scrapy Land has over 40 brands of dies and you find find their list here.

For my card I used the soon to be released "thank you" die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Such a pretty die set!  The lovely doily is Cheery Lynn's French Pastry and the butterflies are from Sizzix' Butterfly Frenzy strip die.

The bold and beautiful papers are Graphic 45's Artisan Style.  The inside is a few more butterflies and more of the patterned paper.

The triple scrunch bow was made with white seam binding that I dyed using Distress Stains in Tumbled Glass and Broken China.  Liquid Pearls in gold was added to the butterflies to create their sparkly bodies.

Winter Birdie Holiday card using Cheery Lynn dies

Hello Crafters!

Can you believe that Christmas is just a couple of weeks away?  Time is flying by.  We are slowly finishing off our Christmas list and I am finishing up the Christmas cards.  'Tis the season to be busy!

For the first time I purchased the set of Christmas Song stickers from Penny Black.  This set had different winter scenes and I thought they would be neat to try on card fronts.  The card today used a sweet red bird on festive branch.

First I stamped blue card card stock with IO's Cover a Card Woodgrain and green card stock with a Hero Arts background stamp (S5501).  They were trimmed with gold and mounted on a Kraft card base.  Cheery Lynn's Sophia's Heart doily die cut ivory card stock.

The bird scene was mounted on card stock and fussy cut. Gold trim applied.  Stickles was applied to the snowflake, berries and leaves.  A wood button was placed on top of Cheery Lynn's Pine Branches.

The lovely red die cut is Cheery Lynn's Southern Charm Valance.

Pearls were placed on corners and the card was complete.  

I have made a few other cards using the sticker set which I will share later this week.

"Being Thankful...for you"

Hello Crafty Friends!

It is a beautiful day here in Nova Scotia.  Earlier today two of my friends and I went north to Truro for craft supply shopping.  Lovely drive and temperature was perfect: 21º C (70ºF).  So nice! Although the calendar and fallen leaves say it is late fall, the temperature proves otherwise.

I would like to share a card I completed using Quietfire Design's sweet Being Thankful stamp set:

Below are the steps used to create the card:

• Create tent fold 4.25" x 5.5" Kraft card stock base.
• Stamp Being Thankful on ivory card stock. Die cut.

• Stamp For You on ivory card stock.
• Die cut hearts.
• Assemble patterned paper and Kraft card stock on front and inside as shown

Products used:

• Quietfire Design stamp set (Being Thankful)
• Cheery Lynn dies (Two of Hearts, Dutch Daisy Doily)
• Bo Bunny paper (Juliet)
• Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black)
• Kraft card stock, antique button, gold twine

Cheery Lynn Poinsettia Christmas card

Hello Crafty Friends.

Last weekend I went to my first crop with a bestie of mine, Janice.  We arrived at Old Orchard Inn on Friday afternoon and left late afternoon on Sunday.  During that time I slept less than 7 hours, completed 13 cards, started 2 cards, had a back massage at the spa and- most of all- had a fabulously fun time. :)

One of the first cards I made used a new die from Cheery Lynn, 3-D Poinsettia.  Here are the steps I used to create this card:

1. Distress Ink 2 sheets of white card stock using Distress Inks in Festive Berries, Barn Door and Vintage Photo. Dry.
2. Die cut three poinsettias from one of the inked card stock. Apply Distress paint Rock Candy to all three poinsettias.  Allow to air dry.
3. While poinsettias are drying, die cut doily from white card stock.
4. Cut patterned Christmas paper to size and apply gold ink to edge.
5. Cut Kraft paper, white card stock, and second sheet of inked card stock to size.  Mount to tent fold Kraft card.
6. Cut dried poinsettias as shown.  Apply Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Walnut stain to edges.
7. Mount doily and poinsettia die cuts to card.
8. Apply Stickles to center of poinsettia and in open areas of doily as desired.

Aside from the drying time for the crackle and Stickles, the card came together quickly and fits easily into an envelope.  Perfect for making multiples this holiday season.

Supplies used:

• Cheery Lynn dies in 3-D Poinsettia, Dutch Daisy Square
• Ranger Ink's Rock Candy Crackle paint, Stickles in Gold and Distress Inks in Festive Berries, Barn Door, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain
• White and Kraft card stock, patterned Christmas paper (unknown supplier)
• Sakura's Pen-Touch in gold

MOJO Monday- using Verve's Peacock "You must be the change"

Hello Crafty Friends.

For several months I have been pinning watercolor projects on my Pinterest board in hopes that I could create something even half as good as the water color projects pinned.  (My goodness, cardmakers are so talented with their watercoloring.)  One person that I have enjoyed following is Kelly Klapstein of Kelly Creates.  She has shared projects all summer long using her Tombow markers and has kindly shared videos, too.  In the most recent issue of Canadian Scrapbooker magazine she created a beautiful poppy (see page 50)- and seeing that was the final push to play with my Tombows again.  Mind you, I am not brave enough to freely create images like Kelly but I did watercolor a stamped card image.

The card sketch followed this week's MOJO Monday sketch:

I changed it slightly for my card: 

The stamp set used is Moments Remembered from Verve Stamps.  It was colored using the Tombows and after drying gold Stickles was applied to the tail feathers.

It was foam adhered onto several layers of My Mind's Eye "Remarkable" paper.  The banner dies are my often used Cheery Lynn, Pierced Banners.

The inside has a sentiment from the Moments Remembered set and a piece of the MME paper.

The watercolor card was completed with a piece of yellow hemp.

"Thank you" card using Graphic 45's French Country

Hello Crafty Friends.

It has been a few weeks since I participated in Cheery Lynn's Challenge- things have been quite busy on this end of the computer but I found time this week to play in the craft room.  Of course, the CL challenge was on my list of crafty things to do.  The challenge this week is texture.    The texture on the card is mainly provided by the corrugated paper and crinkle ribbon but other textures are present, such as vintage lace and twine.

The card front also has a Kraft pocket with a Thank You card tag (the sentiment is from Quietfire Design).

Cheery Lynn's Chicken Wire die (FRM144) provided the black patterned background.  The lovely lacy heart die from Two of Hearts (DL128) die cut Graphic 45's French Country paper and was adhered onto the front of the Kraft tag bag.  All of the paper is fro Graphic 45's French Country except the black tent fold card base.
