JustRite Challenge #096 "Sew Good" card

Hello All!

Hot air balloons are so hot right now (no pun intended...wait, I take that back...pun intended).  I have wanted to make a hot air balloon card for a while now but was unsure what to do: buy a die? Buy hot air balloon patterned paper?  It finally hit me today that I could make my own hot air balloon using materials I already have.

JustRite stamp Harlequin Script is the balloon pattern.  Stamp markers by American Crafts were applied to the stamp.  Spellbinders Standard Circles LG die cut the image.  The tricky part was applying the black string to the balloon.  I ended up using glue dots in the clinched locations shown.  Blue gems were applied over the cinched areas to add a little sass.  Pink paper was cut to size and a stripe embossing folder from Lifestyles Crafts gave it texture.

Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Tumbled Glass was applied to JustRite background Elegant Fronds (a must have for all paper crafters!) and stamped onto white paper.  The edges were distressed using the Tim Holtz distresser.  Faux stitches were applied inside the edges.  Buttons were added to the top corners.

JustRite "Give Flight to Your Dreams" from Botanical Butterflies was stamped onto die cuts from Samantha Walker's Blossom Tags and Accents.  Tumbled glass was applied to the edges.

It was interesting trying to figure out how to make the balloon.  I learned some things along the way and hopefully my next balloon card will be better...with more bling...and a bow somewhere!  (Feels so strange to not put a bow on a card!!)

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
