After seven straight days of Christmas projects it feels strange to share something non-seasonal. LOL. Since it is Monday I thought it would be fitting to share a funny coffee card card.
The background was created using the same technique I shared in a video a couple of weeks ago:
After the background was dry I stamped the quote using dark blue archival ink.
The coffee cup was applied to watercolor paper using the same ink. After drying I colored the lid using a watercolor marker and then I fussy cut the image. Washi tape was applied to the background and the coffee cup was mounted using double faced foam tape. Gold Liquid Pearls was applied to the heart.
The quote is a hoot and the stamp set is perfect for coffee lovers!

I am back sharing another fun technique: how to make your own plaid background. The background was created for a card using the festive Noel die from Suzanne Cannon's A Way With Words collection and the Stripes/Plaid stencil from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
Instructions:
Create plaid background: Apply alcohol inks onto felt then repeatedly tap felt onto alcohol ink-friendly card stock (coated or with a finish that allows the ink to move on the surface). Tip: Work quickly; alcohol inks dry fast. Air dry. Secure stencil to card stock using washi tape. Apply alcohol ink blending solution to a cotton ball and rub into the striped openings of the stencil. (This will remove color from the card stock.) Remove stencil and clean it. Air dry the background. Flip cleaned stencil over and repeat blending solution application to complete the plaid pattern. Remove stencil and clean it.
Create frame: Die cut black card stock using Dotted Scallop Rectangle die and Stitched Rectangle die. (Stitched Rectangle die centered inside of Dotted Scallop Rectangle.) Keep the center piece for another project.
Die cut Noel from white card stock and black card stock.
Create a black card stock top-fold 4.25" x 5.5" card base. Cut plaid background to desired size and adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Add frame to background using foam tape for dimension. Using liquid glue, adhere both Noel die cuts, white over black, slightly offset to create a shadow effect.
Create triple bow from sheer polka dot ribbon and adhere using liquid glue or a small piece of a Tombow Power Adhesive Tab. Add an embellishment to center of bow. (Shown: Oval cameo)
Today I would like to share a quick and fun chalkboard winter card using the oh-so-cool 'Brrrr' die designed by Suzanne Cannon. It is a card that kids and kids at heart will love to make and give to family and friends. So...let's get to it!Instructions:
Die cut a piece of white card stock using the Brrr die. Keep both the die cut and the negative piece of card stock. Secure the negative piece to a black card stock (larger than 4.25 x 5.5") using washi tape.
Dab Distress Paint onto exposed area of the negative die cut.
Remove white negative card stock and either air dry or use a heat tool to dry the paint.
Die cut black card stock using Stitched Rectangles die. Die cut a piece of white card stock using Dotted Scallop Rectangles die. Mount onto blue top-fold 4.25 x 5.5" card base using double faced adhesive tape.
Die cut white card stock using snowflakes. Lay out Brrr and snowflake die cuts to determine locations of snowflakes. Dab Distress Paint onto black background where you wish the snowflakes to be located. Air dry.
Die cut 1/8" thick white foam using Brrr die. Mount onto black background using liquid adhesive glue. Mount die cut Brrr from white card stock onto foam using liquid adhesive. Adhere snowflakes using liquid adhesive. Trim snowflakes at edges of the card as needed so they don't extend past the black rectangle. Accent the center of each snowflake with a light blue gem.

The plaid background used dye ink (Momento) and texture paste with microfine silk glitter.

Hello Crafty Friends! Did you create a card yesterday for World Card-Making Day? I spent some time in the craft room to complete one card and start on another. Oh- I so love my new crafty space and creating in it! It is my happy, crafty, paper place. :) Did you enter into the World Card-Making Day giveaway? If not, visit my post from yesterday to leave a comment. Christmas is just around the corner which means that Christmas cards and projects are in full swing. Today I would like to share a Tim Holtz Blueprint Christmas Tree card. This card is colorful and too fun to make...so let's get started! First, I created a Distressed Patina background using Tim Holtz paints in Tarnished Brass, Picket Fence, Fired Brick, Festive Berries and Candied Apple. Several of the backgrounds were made for future projects. Here is the background used on this card. If you look closely, you can see the shimmer of the Tarnished Brass.
The Blueprint Christmas Tree image (from stamp set CMS135) was stamped onto watercolor paper using Archival ink in Jet Black. The image was colored using Distress Markers in Peeled Paint, Candied Apple, Mowed Lawn, Squeezed Lemonade, Broken China, Frayed Burlap and Ground Espresso using a watercolor brush.
A tent fold Kraft card was created (4.25" x 5.5") and distressed along the edges with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain inks. The patina background was cut to size and distressed along the edges. Next was a layer of green card stock, cut to size and gold Pen-touch applied along the edges. The image was cut to size and foam mounted on the card front.
A row of red/white gems and half pearls were added along the bottom. The gems/pearls were from a local dollar store (Dollarama). The inside contains more festivity. The wreath and sentiment are both from Tim Holtz' stamp set Mini Holidays CMS177. The wreath was colored using Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint markers and stamped onto watercolor paper. After drying, the sentiment was stamped using Archival ink. A small strip of the patina background was gold lined and mounted for a wee bit of colored flair.
The card is full of Christmas happiness inside and out.

Hello Crafty Friends! It is my turn to post at Quietfire Design and I am sharing a colorful autumn card using one of Quietfire Design's new stamps "Autumn is a second spring":
Autumn is here and to share the spirit and beauty of the season, I created an Autumn card using the gorgeous Autumn die from Suzanne Cannon's 4 Seasons die set. The card captures the beautiful colors of fall and is fun to make. Kids would love to create this card with you! So grab a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy the instructions...
Instructions:
Create 5.5" x 5.5" top folding card from Kraft card stock. Cut 5.25" square from Brick Red Soft Finish Cardstock, apply Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink along edges and mount to card using double-sided adhesive tape.
Grab a leaf from a tree that fills your card front well. (I used an oak leaf.) Randomly apply fall color Memento inks to leaf starting with lightest color, then the darker colors. (Tip: Working from light to dark keeps the lighter ink pads clean. Inks used are named in the supply list.)
Place leaf face down onto White Soft Finish Cardstock and use a brayer to flatten it and print the impression. (Hold the leave in place so it won't slip and blur the impression.)
Cut the leaf-printed cardstock down to 4.75" x 4.75". Mount on 4 7/8" square gold card stock using double-sided adhesive tape. Mount onto card base with double-sided adhesive tape.
Die cut Autumn from Brick Red cardstock and also from a piece of white craft foam sheet. Apply Rhubarb Stalk ink to the edges of the Brick Red Autumn die cut.
Mount both die cuts onto card front using glue. It looks best when the Brick Red is slightly offset over the white foam as shown in the close-up below.
Hello Crafty Friends! One of my favorite things to do in my craft room is taking supplies and trying to find new ways to use them. Sometimes I am happy with the results and sometimes I chalk up the time spent to "just having fun". The card today was happy results: I created a fabric patterned background to match a sweet winter birds image. First I applied Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage and Antique Linen to DCWV's adhesive fabric. The fabric was kept on the adhesive sheet.
After drying, the fabric was dry embossed using Elizabeth Craft Designs' Berry Branch folder. A brayer was run over Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and then run over the embossed image. (Please note that next time I will try Archival Ink on the background because the Vintage Photo did "spread" and the branches did not stay as crisp images. However, it worked with this card because the image background had smudges of Vintage Photo along the edges.)
Enamel Accents was randomly applied to look like gently falling snow.
After drying, the fabric was cut to size and mounted onto white card stock. This "flattened" my embossed image but the pretty pattern remained. The bird image was cut to size, mounted on red card stock and then mounted to the fabric background. Stickles in Candy Cane was applied to the background and image berries.
A single green crinkle ribbon bow was added and the card was complete.
While creating the background, I was unsure how well it would match the image. In the end, I was very happy with the results as the background did match well. And the card front is super cute!
