Tim Holtz Blueprint Christmas Tree card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Did you create a card yesterday for World Card-Making Day?  I spent some time in the craft room to complete one card and start on another.  Oh- I so love my new crafty space and creating in it!  It is my happy, crafty, paper place.  :)

Did you enter into the World Card-Making Day giveaway?  If not, visit my post from yesterday to leave a comment.

Christmas is just around the corner which means that Christmas cards and projects are in full swing.  Today I would like to share a Tim Holtz Blueprint Christmas Tree card.  This card is colorful and too fun to make...so let's get started!

First, I created a Distressed Patina background using Tim Holtz paints in Tarnished Brass, Picket Fence, Fired Brick, Festive Berries and Candied Apple.  Several of the backgrounds were made for future projects.  Here is the background used on this card.  If you look closely, you can see the shimmer of the Tarnished Brass.
The Blueprint Christmas Tree image (from stamp set CMS135) was stamped onto watercolor paper using Archival ink in Jet Black.  The image was colored using Distress Markers in Peeled Paint, Candied Apple, Mowed Lawn, Squeezed Lemonade, Broken China, Frayed Burlap and Ground Espresso using a watercolor brush.
A tent fold Kraft card was created (4.25" x 5.5") and distressed along the edges with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain inks.  The patina background was cut to size and distressed along the edges.  Next was a layer of green card stock, cut to size and gold Pen-touch applied along the edges. The image was cut to size and foam mounted on the card front.
A row of red/white gems and half pearls were added along the bottom.  The gems/pearls were from a local dollar store (Dollarama).

The inside contains more festivity.  The wreath and sentiment are both from Tim Holtz' stamp set Mini Holidays CMS177.  The wreath was colored using Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint markers and stamped onto watercolor paper.  After drying, the sentiment was stamped using Archival ink.  A small strip of the patina background was gold lined and mounted for a wee bit of colored flair.
The card is full of Christmas happiness inside and out.
Thanks for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the card.  :)

Have a happy, crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Take 2: "Worry does not empty tomorrow..."

Hello Crafty Friends!

Yesterday I shared a CAS Kraft card using Quietfire's new Worry stamp set.
Worry - Mounted
After I completed the post I thought more about the sentiment, the Kraft paper and the fern.  Instead of tidying up the craft room and starting a new project with new goodies, I made another card using most of the product I used from the day before.  This time I used Distress Inks in Shabby Shutters and Pumice Stone.
Spellbinders' Reflective Moment was used to die cut Kraft paper and was distressed with Pumice Stone.  A slender tent fold card was attached behind the front die cut.
Triple strands of twine was added and the card was complete.
I think this card will stay in my craft room as a nice reminder on how to approach life's problems.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed my "Take 2" card.
Have a happy crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

You are Amazing tag

Hello Crafty Peeps!

Don't you just love trying new techniques?  There are so many absolutely brilliant, creative and inspiring crafters out there to follow and learn from.  I don't know if you all follow Tammy Tutterow but she is definitely one of those crafters.  This week on her blog she showed a technique using a toothbrush and Distress products.  I followed along with her easy instructions and made a tag of my own.
For the tag I used white paint and Distress Stain in Fossilized Amber.  After sanding the edge of the dried tag I applied Vintage Photo.  Next, I used Quietfire's Mosaic stamp and applied Picket Fence stain and stamped on the tag.
Seam binding and lace were stained using the Fossilized Amber and adhered to the tag.  Washi tape was also added.  Quietfire's You are Amazing was heat embossed on yellow vellum and adhered.  A yellow flower had Vintage Photo and Ice Stickles in Lime Ice applied to the edges.

Green paper was die cut using Spellbinders Foliage Flourish and added under the flower and bow.  More Stickles applied at will.  :)
Hope you enjoyed the little tag.  It is a very cool technique!  Thanks, too, to Tammy for the inspiration!

Have a good day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

PSST!!  You want to see a favorite of my Tammy Techniques?  This one is fabulous!  The butterfly wings are very neat!

Father's Day card...gone fishin!

Hello All!

Don't you just love getting a new die and playing with it?  The Cheery Lynn die Bass Fishin was my new purchase yesterday after work.  I didn't have too much time after work to play with it- which must have been on my mind when I was sleeping.  I woke up at 2am and played in the craft room with the die until 6!  Oh yes...this was a good purchase.  Different papers were used, then different materials applied.  My favorite finishes were used on this card: clear Distress Crackle, Distress inks (Old Paper, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain) and Stickles (Seafoam) on the fish and Imagine Craft's CM Iridescent (blue) on the water splash.
Love the way the fish and splash turned out!  It is difficult to tell in the photo but the splash has a very cool iridescence to it (thus the name- LOL).

The patterned paper is from Graphic 45's Good Ol' Sport.  The stamped sentiment is from Quietfire's must have set, Happy Family Days:
Happy Family Days with Calligraphic Frame (coordinates with Spellbinders™)
Yes, it took some time for everything to dry but it was worth the wait...plus I was able to tidy the craft room while waiting.  Win-win.  :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Distressed card

card, distress, floral ovals, ideas, ink, Just Rite, JustRite, ovals, Spellbinders, stain, tags trio, to make,
Hello Crafteteers!

The weekend is just around the corner...yay!  I hope all of you are able to play in your crafty area this weekend.

Last weekend I played around with some of my Tim Holtz inks and Spellbinders dies.  I also used some stamps that I purchased a while ago but never used until now.  One of the die cut images I decided to use on a card.

The image also had glitter mist applied.  Doesn't not show up too well in the zoom but it is there...shimmery and pretty.  Don't you just enjoy using the shimmer mists?
The stamp "Give Flight to Your Dreams" is from JustRite's Botanical Butterflies.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend and stay crafty!  :)
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Christmas Card- Tim Holtz Santa

Happy Friday, All!

You know what I like about challenges?  They inspire you to do things you have not tried, use product you have not used and meet other crafters.  This week I scrolled through the challenges and was inspired to make a Christmas card.

The Santa silhouette is from a stamp set I have not used yet: Tim Holtz's Mini Holidays.  Isn't that Santa the cutest?  I love the retro/vintage feel to the stamp.  The paper is Pink Paislee's City Sidewalks- also my first time using.  I applied distress ink (old paper, antique linen, vintage photo) along all edges to emphasize the vintage look.  Red velvet ribbon was assembled under the sentiment and I die cut poinsettias from red velvet ribbon and Kraft paper.  Distress ink (fired brick) was added to the Kraft poinsettia.  Twine was applied to the top of the tag (also from City Sidewalks collection).  Black gems were used on Santa's die cut in the corners and scalloped lace along the edge as shown.  There are several layers applied to the Kraft card stock base- which gives it a fun feel (hopefully!).

So, my first time playing with the stamp set and paper...and I look forward to using the product again.  Also, I hardly ever do vintage and I love vintage!  I definitely need more excuses to do this style.

For all the challenge hosts and design team members: thanks for the inspiration...and the excuses to craft!

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
