Butterfly Wall Art using Graphic 45 and Quietfire Design

Hello All.

On Sunday I stopped in at our local Winners (TJ Maxx or Marshalls for my American Peeps) and saw a beat up photo frame marked 'AS IS' for $2.  I don't know what it was about the frame but I knew I wanted it.  Sunday night I went into my craft room and created this framed art.  I plan on keeping it in my room for inspiration.
First, I cleaned up the frame a little and applied white Distress Crackle Paint sporadically.  As that was drying I die cut the dress frame (Sizzix' die "Sewing Room") from hardboard and applied Crackle Paint.  Using the same die, I cut the pretty pink gingham paper from Graphic 45's Secret Garden.
Feathers were adhered to the dress form.  Gold antique looking lace was layered on top and a rose antique button was adhered to the center of the lace.  I stamped Quiefire Design's Love Lives Here .  The dress form was mounted on gold butterfly wings (Sizzix' Layered Butterfly set).  The background paper is the first patterned paper I purchased from Graphic 45- Birdsong- and is still my favorite paper from them.

Next, I cut strips from more Graphic 45 Birdsong paper and adhered to the frame edge:
Quietfire Design has a great Art quote and it had to be used on the frame.  It was die cut using Spellbinders' Fancy Tags Two.  Gold embossing powder was applied on the edges:
The framed art was completed:
I am very happy with how my $2 frame inspired this project.  :)
Hope you liked seeing the project.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Graphic 45 Time to Flourish Kraft card

Hello Crafters!

How was your weekend?  I hope it was great!  Were you able to squeeze any crafty time in?  Or visit a local craft store?  The new 2015 releases are in craft stores now and I bet a lot of you have a long wish list!
I have been able to spend some time in the craft room lately.  Last weekend I reorganized some of my Graphic 45 paper and now it is easily accessible!  It is tough to cut some of those pretty papers for the first time but well worth it when a project is finished.  Today's project used the Time to Flourish journal card collection.  Two identical journal cards were used: one as the base and the other was used for fussy cutting.
A tag was cut from the Time to Flourish 8x8 paper pad and attached to a double red bow:
Distress inks were used along the edges of the journal card, red card stock, ivory card stock and a Kraft tent fold card.  After the layers were assembled, Stickles was added as desired.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Masculine Graphic 45 and Quietfire birthday card

Happy Sunday, All!

Spring is just around the corner and I welcome it with open arms.  Hellloooo warmer weather!  Spring also means baseball...and I love my baseball!  I am a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and I can't wait to see my boys of summer on the field again.  Go Cubbies!

Baseball was on my mind when I made the card I am sharing today.  The layout is based on the sketch at the Card Maker challenge this week:
Here is the front view of my card:
The sentiment is a quote from one of the legends of baseball: Satchel Paige.  I remember my dad talking about him.  What an amazing player!  The stamped quote is from Quietfire and it goes so well with the Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport paper and Kraft paper.    The details in the lower right corner were fussy cut from the paper and I used the Spellbinders star die, too:
The inside has the Happy Birthday sentiment- also from Quietfire:

To give it the vintage look, I used Ranger Ink's Distress Ink in Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain along all of the edges inside and out:
Hope you are having a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!
Big hugs!
Kathy Jo

"No Act of Kindness" Quietfire and Graphic 45 Time to Flourish card

Happy Friday, Crafters!

All week I have been sharing projects using Graphic 45 papers.  I really enjoy using Graphic 45 papers and Quietfire stamps because they go so well together.  Today I am sharing a card using journalling cards from Graphic 45's Time to Flourish collection and a beautiful Quietfire stamp, No Act of Kindness:
Such a lovely sentiment and calligraphy by Suzanne Cannon!  It was stamped in Memento's Sweet Plum ink.

The journal card with distressed along the edges with inks in Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Walnut Stain and Dusty Concord.  It was mounted on green card stock die cut with Spellbinders' Detailed Scallops.
I took another journal card and fussy cut the flowers and clovers.  The fussy cuts were mounted with foam onto the card.  Stickles was applied.
The bottom right corner consisted of banners made from scrap Time to Flourish paper and a matching stamp.
The stacked assembly was mounted on an ivory tent fold card with distressed edges.
Such pretty papers!  The colors really make me yearn for the warmer March weather.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great Friday and weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Graphic 45 Mother Goose tag and holder

Hello All!

Thursday...one more day until Friday.  Yay!  It is not that I do not like my job because I do.  I just really enjoy weekends.  :)

I was reorganizing my Graphic 45 paper pads last weekend and came across the Mother Goose paper collection.  Next thing I know, I have finished a tag and am halfway through making a tag holder.  Funny how you can get so easily distracted from cleaning and organizing!

The tag holder was made by cutting a sheet of 12 x 12 paper in half, folding into three sections and then cutting the two outer section rectangles at an angle.  Both ends could fold in to form the open pocket:
I went one step further and cut/folded another sheet of paper identical.  Then, I trimmed the triangle remnants and adhered them to the pocket flaps.   A strip of dotted Mother Goose paper was punched along each edge with a Martha Stewart edge punch and adhered to the pocket front.  A layer of green paper and postage stamps were added.  The cute Mother Goose stamp and fussy cut flowers were layered on top:
The tag was sweet and simple.  More layering and I used one of the large fussy cut blue flowers on top of the tag.  The back of the tag will hold a gift card.
Here is another view of the assembly:
A template page is coming soon and I will have a template for the pocket and tag.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a terrific Thursday!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Graphic 45 "Come Away With Me" gift card holder

Hello Crafters!

Today I am  sharing a vintage style gift card holder using Graphic 45's "Come Away with Me" paper.  I cannot tell you how much fun it was to make this holder and it is always a good thing to have a stash of gift card holders for last minute gifts.  I enjoyed making it so much that I may make some for Christmas, too.

Here is a closeup of the front:
The card is from the Come Away with Me 4x6 & 3x4 journaling cards set.  The edges were distressed with Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.  Four postage stamps were cut from paper in the 8x8 paper pad, distressed along the edges and adhered with foam tape.  It is difficult to see in the photos, but Stickles was added to the water, stamps and ship smoke stacks for emphasis.  The journal card looks fantastic with the distressed edges and highlighted/stickled areas!

The left side front has a tag, a vintage style key and vintage style key chain:
The back has more of the distressed Come Away with Me paper and the flap is secured with twine:
The inside is a cool hidden surprise.  Love the way it turned out!
The bottom section of the inside has a gift card holder:
Another view of the inside:
All of the papers for the inside came from the Come Away with Me 8x8 or 6x6 paper pads.  I did not want to cover up the beautiful papers with plain ivory paper with stamped sentiment.  Instead, I will just place a piece of paper on the gift card itself with the stamped sentiment (such as Happy Birthday).  It will be nice to keep the inside as is showing off this amazing paper.

Here is another view of the outside:
Hope you liked the gift card holder!  When I finish the Christmas gift card holders, I will share them with you.  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Graphic 45`s Time to Flourish Winter Wishes`` double gate fold card

Hello Crafting Peeps!

Yesterday I shared a bright and sunny pop up card using Graphic 45`s French Country.  It totally did not match the weather outside my window but it did make me yearn for those sunny summer days.  Today, I am sharing a card that is taking a delightful look at the current weather.  Winter can be pretty and the lovely Graphic 45 Time to Flourish captures the winter beauty.
The card details: A double gate fold card base was made from navy blue paper.  Graphic 45`s Time to Flourish paper (January) was cut to size and adhered to the panels.  Images were cut from the paper and applied as shown.  Stickles was used to highlight the flowers and also the swirls on either side of Winter Wishes.  A double bow was made using seam binding and a wee wooden snowflake was added.
Love the colors in the paper and the navy blue base makes the colors pop.
The bold green patterned paper is from the 6x6 paper pad.  The stamp is from Graphic 45`s Time to Flourish stamp set and the ink used is Graphic 45`s Dark Cashmire (from Colorsnap, I believe).  The other ink colors are on my wish list.  Such great colors!

Another view of the card:
Thanks so much for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the card.
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Hugs,

Happy Valentine's Day from Cupig

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today I am sharing a card I made for a friend's wife.  Most holidays and special occasions I make a card for his wife, and usually each card is funny or a little off the wall.  When I came across this Cupig stamp I knew that he would want this on a card for her.  LOL.  They are such a cute couple.
Cupig was colored with Copics and Stickles was applied to the wings.  On his nose and inside ears Liquid Pearl was added.  It was die cut using Spellbinders Lace Hearts.  Red card stock was also cut from a die in the same set.  White card stock was dry embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. It was mounted on red card stock and red/white baker's twine adhered into place.  Easy Peasy!  Once the pig was colored, the card came together quickly.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I do hope that your day is full of happiness...and lots of love!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Vintage Valentine's Day card

Happy Friday!

One more day until Valentine's Day!  What are you doing to celebrate the day?  My husband and I are doing something very romantic: we are looking at a new front door for the house.  LOL.  We have had problems with the door since we moved in- the door has always been tricky to open.  Well, now it is stuck in the frame.  We cannot open it no matter how we try!  Thankfully we were inside the house when the door decided to stick...not outside with no house keys!  As a joke I should have made a Valentine's Day card for my husband and glued the edges so that he could not open it.  :)
This card does open...as a tent fold card.  The ivory base was die cut from Spellbinders' Exquisite Labels Eleven.  Maroon paper was dry embossed and die cut with Spellbinders' Labels Seventeen.   Next, ivory paper was die cut using Labels 39.  A shimmery piece of metallic maroon paper was die cut using Twisted Metal Tags and Accents and placed over the vintage Graphic 45 image from the Sweet Sentiments paper collection.  Stickles was applied to the wings and flowers on the image.  The finishing touch was a maroon double bow and gold button.
Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your Friday...and be cautious of sticky doors!  :)
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
